How risky is your sex life?
MSNBC.com and Zogby International asked online readers to share some intimate details about their personal lives, and more than 56,000 adult men and women one of the largest responses ever to a sex survey in the United States revealed that many are playing a pretty risky game.
The survey, which was released Monday, found that while a majority of the survey participants consider themselves knowledgeable about AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases, many are in denial when it comes to sex with someone new.
Just 39 percent of people who took the survey always ask whether a new partner is infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, or other STDs. Nearly one-third said they never check on a prospective partner's sexual health status, and among those with less than a high school education, almost 50 percent never discuss the issue of STDs with a new partner troubling statistics given the deadliness of AIDS and rising rates of genital herpes and other diseases.

What is that?
I asked a lot of people this question once-If someone says"I am very concerned about HIV and thus I will wear a condom",would you have sex with them?Almost all said yes.
Then I asked, what if someone said"I am going to use a condom since I am HIV positive",would you have sex with them?
Almost all said no to the latter question.
He has been married twice before, had a relationship with another co star and now this young girl had unprotected sex with him that resulted in a pregnancy.
Outside of marriage and no doubt outside of being tested for AIDS or other STDs.
Not denial - its a deadly addiction cycle. The glue that should be founding a good marriage becomes chains that imprison in promiscuity needing help to get out of.
This article is totally out of touch with reality. You can't view this stuff in a vacuum. There is a dating/mating ritual. It involves, usually, going out, drinking, music, mood, excitement, adventure. Or else maybe it was just me. Anyway, you don't wait two weeks for blood tests. You throw caution to the wind and live life. I'm not saying it's safe, or moral, or the way to meet a wife or husband. But that's how it takes place. And even if it's a little slower, I still seriously doubt ppl are gonna get blood tests. It just doesn't happen. And not only do they not ask others to test, they don't test themselves either. And most heteros are not dying of AIDS, so they see no reason to change. The real high risk behaviors are drugs with needles, prostitution, and gay sex.
That's life!
So does that mean those who are HIV should lie so they can indulge? Is this selfish, or what?
Yeah, it's the day of equal opportunity to be stupid.
It USED to be mainly the males.
Consider this: Inadequate medical care (of any kind) throughout SubSaharan Africa - so how a diagnosis of AIDS ?
Simple - all deaths (malarial, starvation, etc) are attributed to AIDS (w/ no clinical confirmation)
Pile on that WHO's "estimate" of AIDS cases
Why ? there's money/sympathy in AIDS - $0 in malarial treatment/prevention.
The rate of AIDS in Africa is due to many factors:
1. Misdiagnosis, as pointed out by another FReeper.
2. Bad medical practices involving needle reuse in hospitals and clinics.
3. Unregulated surgery.
4. Higher rates of anal sex among hetero partners.

You're so right though. In the commercial they have the couple riding bikes laughing and having a picnic, kissing softly in the green grass. All this fun and having genital herpes too.
Just look at Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.
He has been married twice before, had a relationship with another co star and now this young girl had unprotected sex with him that resulted in a pregnancy.
Outside of marriage and no doubt outside of being tested for AIDS or other STDs.
And I thought they practiced butt sex as a form of cheap contraceptive.
"You can't get AIDS from someone who doesn't have it."
Ain't that the truth?!?!
Given his bizarre behaviour, it would behoove anyone to make sure the partner is tested. He's clearly into risky behaviour.
Think of it--genital herpes could end up putting Disney World out of business!
"AIDS still remains almost entirely confined to those who receive unprotected anal sex from or share needles with someone who also receives anal sex or who shares needles."
There is also a risk to the insertive parnet for anal sex and a risk to the female during vaginal sex. There has even been oral transmission from lesbian to lesbian.
Fair enough!
That would make a good tagline. Not for me, but for someone! Those commercials crack me up.
