I just found this site and I'm chomping at the bit. There are these folks, you might have heard of them, that are fiscally conservative, believe in "little government" and individual rights. Call 'em Libertarians, Jefferson Republicans, bleah bleah bleah. They also believe...oh, shudder!....that govt. should NOT be in the biz of regulating morality...Don't tread on me...Do what you want; just don't hurt anyone else's chance of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness...All that antiquated jazz...leave foreign folks be..etc. etc..

Are there ANY secular rights in this bunch, or are you all a throng of extremist fundy righties who believe gays are the spawn of satan and this world should be turned into the sanitized minivan driving equivalent of disney-land? Because, if you *ALL* are, I want nothing to do with you. Your "free republic" moniker is a fake and for whatever value your articles may contain it is rendered asunder by your bias and not-so-hidden religious ties. If this is a nation "uner God" than tell me now so I can say bye-bye and do what I can to promote "reason" and not faith as a policy maker.

Thanks Comet. I don't agree 100%, of course. You made a few good and deserved points about the LP. However, fat stinky men need lovin' too. That's why god created the GOP.

So who gets to enforce their code of morality? Christians? Hindus? Republicans? The Have-Mores? That's the problem we have here.

Abusing children or animals is one thing, evil. What you do with consenting adults is your businss, no one else's. Also, parents should be notified if their child wants an abortion because a child is *not* mature enough to have the same rights and freedoms to make decisions that an adult has.

In answer to some of the other posts....

I have no desire to indoctrinate your kids with the gay agenda (whatever that is). The ONLY thing proper to be taught in public schools is "education". History. Math. Science. Keep religions and idealogies out of it, unless it's a philosphy class.

I also don't belong to a country club. I love that one!! How quaint!! I don't even have golf clubs. Or khakis. I bet many of you do, however.

There's also nothing moral about being in a miserable marraige and breeding in this already overpopulated and wasteful country, but people do it anyway. That's their business. If you don't like gay people, then fine, you don't have to. Just leave them alone. And I hope you change your attitude if your child becomes one.

As for abortion, being pro-choice doesn't always mean being pro-abortion. There's this thing called birth control, see, and it needs to be cheap, accessible and encouraged. But taking away a woman's right to make her own decisions about her own body is wrong. If you really want to force women to have unwanted or unplanned babies no matter what the circumstance, than you should be forced to adopt them instead of having your own kids. Deal?? (Yeah, right, that'll be the day. You'll just sweep that one right under the rug, won't ya?)
