Forgetting for a moment the primary comment you were suggesting with this 'toon.

Why can't the "media" hold their own phone and secondly, who is holding the phone for the "media"?

In one of your prior strips, you had the "media" wearing a handsfree headset .

Here you have a Donkey holding a cell phone in it's cloven hoof.

The human arm/hand holding the phone for the "media" just seemed odd to me is all and I was wondering if it was meant to suggest something that I'm just not getting.

There really is no intentional comment in these little quirks involving the "hands" of the characters. When creating a cartoon, little details like that kind of develop on their own, with different rules being established for different characters.

The shark never holds or picks up anything because he has no fingers...just fins. The hand holding the phone is just a little quirk: I guess it's one of his aides or something. He has no-hands headphones in that one strip because he needed to be in the middle of the panel, where a hand wouldn't be emerging to hold it. Plus, I thought he looked kind of funny that way.

The donkey, I suppose, is able to hold things by sandwiching them in between the wedge of his hoofs somehow. I'm not sure how. He has things that could sort of work like fingers.

It's sort of like the question of how Snoopy sleeps on top of his doghouse on his back. Or why Dilbert's tie flips up.

I guess I see it differently(and maybe you did NOT imply this, but this is how I saw it.....)

The "someone else holding the phone", for the media shark, IMHO, refers to the FACT, that the MSM in this country, receive their "marching orders" from the Donkeys, and the sharks, "having no hands", would refer to the FACT once again, that the MSM is helpless, without the demoncratic party, and MUST have their "help",to "report"(manufacture), interesting news stories. In return for this help, the sharks(GREAT caricature for the media, BTW), then "attack without mercy", any groups, or individuals, that the DUmmies tell them to.

Well, there's no "official" interpretation of any creative work, just individual interpretation from the readers/observers.

I did, however, base the fact that he's a shark on the idea of the media viciously attacking and with no remorse or mercy. And I did have most of those other things you said in mind when creating it: the issue of his hands was the only thing I didn't think of.

I'll use your explanation from now on whenever asked. :)
