David Lee Miller reporting on the riots in France right now. Apparently a power plant was attacked. Concern in Paris that rioters are coming to Paris proper to cause more trouble.
Thanks for that info. I'm getting some of that Domeboro's to have on hand......especially for yellow jackets that swarm out of the ground when inadvertently disturbed.
God's pepper shaker?
Those yellow-jackets are really bad. They're swarming here. I came across a dead chipmunk and the yellow-jackets were swarming around that. I was surprised. I expected flies or other such vermin, I didn't know yellow-jackets did that too.
stupid, stupid nephew.
;-)
In what section would one find the Domesboro?
Good News all around. Somehow I missed the news of the girlchild's new employment. I hope she gives herself some time to adjust to the early hour thing.
I'm glad she's feeling good.
Thanks hon.
You didn't miss the news tho...she just found out the other day.
It's at Old Navy (one of my fav stores ;-) ) and just seasonal for now, but she really needs to get up off her arse and do something....health wise as well.
Thanks Jane. I'm avoiding the news otherwise. I have FNC on in the background with 'mute' on. I am also watching (I know you don't watch it, for good reason) Washington Journal, but immediately hitting the 2/3rd's button every time a traitor American-hating, military-hating, socialist/communist/al-queda-loving CRAT comes on, but then listening to every word of every America-loving patriot that calls in. Of course, the President's speech from yesterday is the topic.
Sony or any other recording company can come up with a way to prevent copying a CD by the conventional copy menthod. But unless they also prevent the buyer from playing the CD there is no way to prevent illegal copies being made.
All that needs to be done is tap the output of the CD player and present that to a recorder as either digital or analog audio. Then cda, MP3, MP4 or any other files can be created on a CD without any copy protection being present. That CD can be be used as a master to make thousands or even millions of illegal copies.
The only down side is the first copy or master copy must be done in real time. It would take the length of time it takes to play the cd to make the first copy. But aditional copies can be created at the speed multiplier of the CD recorder.
The anti virus people have all announced that their programs will all be able to detect and remove Sony anti copy code from computers by next week.
We are rapidly reaching the point where all recorded music will be downloaded over the net. Companies such as Sony will have no blank CD costs, printed label and CD container costs, they will have no shipping or distribution costs and no dealer costs.
Their costs will be the recording costs, adverstising, and internet bandwith costs. There will not be the huge costs of CD's that did not sell. A flop loses only recording and advertising costs. Recorded music will cost a fraction of what it costs today and the profits can be great. The very low cost ot consumbers and therefore much larger sales will make it easier to pay to download a legal copy for peanuts rather than go to the trouble to get an illegal one.
The recording companies need propritary software and huge bandwidth that will allow legal copies to be downloaded in a fraction of the time it takes to download illegal copies of CDs. Customers will pay a buck to download in a minute rather than take many minutes or hours to get it for free.
Sony is just insuring that potential buyers will be afraid to buy a legal copy. It is a strange world in which the only way to ensure your computer remains safe is to buy a bootleg copy or a Sony CD.
I don't know who is running Sony but who ever it is ought to be fired.
Interesting post, thank you for pinging me.
Knowing you lihe to read, get 'Widow of the South' by Robert Hicks. His first book and Wow oh Wow, one of those 'page turners', you will not want to put it down. It is about Franklin, TN and a lady to worked with the wounded and dead in 1864. You won't be sorry in reading it.
