So only stay at home moms who are Scientologists, which, by the way, we don't even know Katie is at this point, are brainwashed, whereas all other "non-scientologist" stay at home moms are engaging in an act of free will? That sounds a little kooky, don't you think?

OK - Um, all the comments on this thread made by me were not made by me - they were made by Bella_Bru but I forgot to log myself off and she made the posts under my name in error.

So there...

I had a boss years ago who was a Scientologist nutter.... She and her baby girl never saw her husband, because he was basically doing slave labor all the time down in Southern Cal building some Scientology celebrity retreat or such. (Of course, slave labor might have been preferable to life with my boss....)

If you want to have fun, look over the pages and pages of cookie-cutter testimonials to Scientology , each with their own vacuous favorite L. Ron Hubbard quote.

at least she won't be in the next batman sequel! Woohoo! She was the worst thing in an otherwise good movie.

Amen!

Well I guess it's a better choice than some of these Hollywood actors that give up on their marriages due to their careers.

I'm going to have to say that as strange as it may seem to some. It seems perfectly honorable to me for one to give up Hollywood for the sake of their FAMILY.

If you think that sounds kooky, you haven't looked into scientology enough.

She's going to be acting full time -- pretending she is in a normal marriage to a normal man.

I'll bet the kid ends up looking alot like L. Ron Hubbard. He died in 1986; the one sperm bank I looked up had been in business for over 25 years...

No great loss as I see it. She's as clueless as a rock on the lunar surface.

I saw that some picture too!!! And it was creepy. Even creepier...is if Tom Cruise sought out Katie because of her 'resemblance.' Neither Mimi Rogers, Nicole Kidman, or Penelope Cruz had any resemblance. Do ya think some one in Camp Cruise got a gold star for 'noticing' and directing Tommy in Katie's direction?

I just feel all icky thinking about their romance. I hope her dad keeps on eye on things...so far (with the prenup) he seems to be the only one looking out of KH.

I don't doubt that at all.

Dads do try. She seems to come from a salt-of-the-earth family, so hopefully that will bear some weight in her new life.

The reason I take a morbid interest in this situation--as much as I hate Hollywood politics--is that I really enjoy movies (and I admit most of them are mind-candy). But it doesn't hurt that Tom Cruise bears a passing resemblance to what my husband used to look like before marriage and the kiddie came along. (Sigh) Too bad he's not a Scientologist, otherwise, just like TC he could have a portrait of himself hanging in his attic that steadily gets older, while time remains unchanged for His Grace. :-P

That was my post. Was too tired to notice he hadn't signed out.

Scientologists are more than kooky. Show me any other religion that follows its members around.

And anyone without the free will to make that choice is brainwashed.

I agree with you that Scientology is a cult. However, you will have to choose a different piece of evidence to further your point here -- that Scientologists believe that humans are descended from a race of aliens is a much better option, one that most can sign onto as being freaky. Additionally, a lot of people follow others around to extreme; they're usually stalkers, not Scientologists. Katie choosing to be a stay at home mom is a completely normal decision that millions of women all over this country make every day. In fact, I would argue that Katie's decision to stay home is a sign that she may still be with us in the normal world. Now, if she decides to use the Scientology childbirth method then I would have to concede that she may be too far gone.

If your point is I should be waste my time worrying about some idiotic Hollywood couple, consider the point gladly missed.

So, you came on this thread knowing nothing of the story and just wanted to make your anti-feminist point.

Point taken.

I said in my post that I knew nothing of Katie Holmes, yet saw an interesting truth in the story. My apologies that it conflicts with the chip on your shoulder.
