Does hot chocolate go well with stolen marijuana?

gettin flamed over such an innocuous observation...

Well, you're new... and belaboring the obvious ( Cold? In Ohio? In the Winter? ) is a double invitation to draw fire-- I'm surprised nobody's called you "noobie!" or "troll!" yet.

But anyway...

Welcome to Free Republic!

Actually i'm no newbie. Up until about
two weeks ago, when i went through a
PC wipe, i was known as 'nickatnite2003',
but i decided (out of a fit of
capriciousness) to change my screen name.
Not because i was banned or zotted, just
because i've been 'nickatnite2003' for
almost 3 yrs now, on different boards.

I *almost* rue doing so. I've been accused
of being a troll about 5 times by different
members in the last two weeks, mainly on
the basis of my registration date for 'BD'...

*Me!*...Heck, i'm almost a John Bircher! :o)

Uhhm, i've been around a while, but this is
apparebntly something that has eluded me...
What is the point of the 'Chit Chat' board
*for*, if not for personal and "Vanity"
posts?

I mean, it's not like postwed it in
'News/Activism'?

And if i am not supposed to post personal
comments and opions in 'Chit Chat' what
*is* supposed to be posted there?

Normally, i stick to 'News/Activism'. so my
curiosity *is* genuine.

My point is that in my experience, ohio doesn;'t usually get it's first sub zero cold snap, until the
*last* week of December, or the first 2
weeks of January...It's early this year,
and in my opinion, doesn't bode well, for
a mild or short winter...No "global Warming"
theories, more like a Poor Richards Almanac
notation.

Here in North Tejas, we hit 89 on Saturday and woke up to mid-20's today.

Did you get any of the fabled Texas snow
with the drop? It must be a pretty big
deal dowen there...I', guessin that
other than in the NW moutain ares,
Texas gets some "2 hr" snow, about
what? 2 or 3 times a decade? :o)

NW Mountain areas of Texas??? That's the panhandle. Flat but with snow.

No snow in North Texas. We rarely get snow but will get ice. We did, however, get 2" of snow this past Easter. It was gone by 9:00 AM.

OK, I know you now-- I really wish I had used my given name on all the various boards I've belonged to, mainly so people who know me wouldn't get confused.

My favorite ( and about the last relative left alive ) Aunt still lives in Pomeroy, and I was not really aware that cold weather comes that late up there-- all I've heard was tales of snow drifts and walking uphill to school. In both directions...

I remember back in the mid 70's, and early 60's,
heavy snow 2-3-4 feet deep, on the ground
long before Christmas, and many years mixed in
where there was nary a flake to be seen, until
Christmas vacation had ended....And then...whomp!
"feets" og the stuff...As far as i'm concerned,
it's cyclical...last winter, there was a *major*
ice storm that had some people without power for
a week or more, with highs during that week, in
the single digits...the year before, it seemed
to stay about 29 degrees during the day, for
about 8 weeks. No9t much snow, but a lot of
rian turning into ice...and just below the
point where a serious melt could get going....
..it was....annoying.
