I was laughing about it, until YOU showed up and started saying (and I quote): "A huge number of people who post here have no kids and are puerile boys with low IQ.
I doubt they've ever come close to a real woman."
there is always ONE on FR that comes in to ruin the fun....
So instead, NOW, like DG, I am laughing at YOU.
weak
Please stop advising deep breaths when someone is topless. It is way to suggestive.
But mike in iraq is picture perfect.
How can you be so crass, as to suggest there are people laughing. Especially when one considers the seriousness of the offense.
I want everone to know I stand before then as a prude Ahmuricahn.
Geez, I thought they were talking about those who do Adkins and don't want the bun.
Don't back down. If you find our sleazy, decadent, sex-sells society offensive, then say so and don't let this bunch of bullies change your mind.
It sounds like you'd like to see you children grow up in a culture that has some self respect and respect for others.
The bullies out here beat you up for being a prude, but are horrified when they read articles about 13 year old prostitutes and middle school girls giving the 'Lewinsky' during lunch break.
I love your post and this "If you find our sleazy, decadent, sex-sells society offensive, then say so"
is right on the money. I posted a story yesterday about an offensive bumper sticker I saw and took minimal heat for calling the driver a pig. I posted the link upthread.
"It sounds like you'd like to see you children grow up in a culture that has some self respect and respect for others."
I wish someone would put this line on several billboards around town.
You said "I am no prude"
Reply.
Consider another possibility. Maybe you are a prude.
Maybe you could do something with your life than worry about what BK does? Just a thought.
"It sounds like you'd like to see you children grow up in a culture that has some self respect and respect for others."
Exactly! I am not worried about what BK does or how any other company wants to advertise - free speech. BUT I am sick and tired of the hypersexualation of our culture. I have two little girls that don't need to see alot of stuff that is shoved down our throats especially on things that are suppose to be innocent such as a fast food drinking cups, bumper stickers, billboards, tv commericals on children channels, etc.... Yeah for all you out there it is a double entendre but why does it need to be there?? It doesn't. Yes, its cute and funny -for an adult.. not my 5 yr old or 7 yr old girls that now can read everything they see because they just learned to read and ask about everything. They are now at the age of really learning about things in this world..one thing they don't need right now is sex education from a public advertisement. Thats my job, not the public.
Some of you out there that say this is a joke or "I need to lighten up" don't have children or if you do, don't give a rats butt of how other people might want to raise their children differently in a sexual perverted culture that we have had to endure publically since the 90s when what I call Clinton's sexual revolution exposed things that should not be discussed in public to nightly news.
Yes, I can "get over it" but why should I? Why should I lower my standards just because I am trying to raise my children to have respect for others. Parenting in todays culture is alot harder than alot of you think - You will change your minds when you have kids. - I hope.
Go to the link I posted way upthread, and read through the thread. Talk about depressing. But I'm with ya, I'm sick to death of how out of control our society has become, to the point that the traditional conservative is ridiculed and told to "lighten up." If conservatives don't fight this trend, we are lost. I was also ridiculed by some for calling a woman a pig because she had a bumper sticker on her car that said "I F$%#ed Your Boyfriend." (no symbols, written out plainly)
I once went to a restruant that offered a "bottomless" cup of coffee.
I was so disraught, I prayed, then blew up the resturant in the name of the lord, how dare they blaspheme.
Afterward, I found out "bottomless" meant that you could get free coffee all day.
Oops
I e-mailed that around the office and to quite a few of my friends.
Hope you don't mind.
I know; I read it. Way to go on confronting that girl.
What I see on this thread is a standard liberal tactic. For instance, if a white person questions affirmative action, he is called racist and that shuts him up, cause nobody wants to be labeled a racist.
Babsig was offended by BoogerKings use of sexual innuendo to sell it's products and had the initial courage to make a statement. However, her will wilted when she was labeled a 'prude' because nobody wants to be a prude. Everybody wants to be hip and cool.
And then there's this beauty from thomaswest:
Maybe you are a prude.
Maybe you could do something with your life than worry about what BK does? Just a thought
Hey thomaswest! Babsig is doing something with her life! She's working as a health professional and raising three kids and from the sound of it, she would like to be able to take her childern to a kids oriented restaurant without having to explain gratuitous sexual innuendo.
And while I'm ranting.......... one of the pillars of the conservative movement is to raise our children to understand and appreciate conservatism and the overall benefits of a conservative based society. If we're going to turn our heads to this 'double entendre', sexual innuendo, sex-for-dollars, because we don't want to be called 'prudes', then we may as well chuck the conservative movement, join the libs, outlaw Christianity, embrace secular socialism, buy a hybrid car and vote for Hillary in '08, because we are sending the wrong message to our children. And don't think that they don't know it.
Most excellent rant. Our children are under attack and we HAVE to fight it.
"she would like to be able to take her childern to a kids oriented restaurant without having to explain gratuitous sexual innuendo."
That about says it all. I was at our small town mall last night with 3 of my 5 kids. There is a "Victoria's Secret" store in this mall and in the window of the store, mannequins wearing tiny bras and g-strings. My 6 year old points and asks about the g-strings. Right across from the store sits Santa Claus. What's wrong with this picture? Granted, I like Victoria's Secret but that type of advertising in a family oriented mall is dead wrong. Put a pretty nightgown on the mannequin and live the g-strings in the back where parents don't have to explain them to their small children.
And for that kind of attitude, you'd be called a prude, which is ridiculous.
are you Islamic?
