"Topless - Have it Your Way" at Burger King
Burger King advertisement | 12/8/2005 | Babsig

Posted on 12/08/2005 4:16:15 PM PST by Babsig

Yesterday my husband bought a shake from Burger King. On the side of the cup advertisement it says, "Have it Your Way" - "Maybe you want a lot of ice. Maybe you want no ice. Maybe you want your top securely fastened, or maybe you want to go topless. Hmmm?...."

I am no prude but this is outrageous to make a statement like this on a cup! We don't need messages like this on the side of a fast food drink! Has anyone else seen this or reported it? I went on Burger King's web page for an address, but all they have is a Customer Relations phone number which I plan to call tomorrow. I took a picture of it, but don't know how to post it here. If someone knows how, I can email it to you. Starbucks was called on their statements on cups, I think BK needs to know that we don't need smut on their cups either.

1. Take a nice deep breath.

2. They're talking about the cup lid, not clothing.

I wouldn't be so upset...if they were an equal opportunity offender, though can't think of a slam at men.

My understanding is that most beverages are offered in "decaf" form.

Maybe you should try it.

I think the slogan is kind of cute.

dump the pic into Photobucket.com then get its IP address, which will allow you to post it with HTML tags.

Wow...to go "there" at the sight of the word 'topless'...Seeing it in the context as given, my mind didn't even think about going "there" until steered by your observation...

It is meant to be, and is, a double entendre.

2. They're talking about the cup lid, not clothing.

The inferred message is pretty clear.

(let's out breath)

Nothing to get upset about.

It's representative of the hypersexualization that's taken place in media and advertising. It is well debatable whether or not to be "upset".

Funny thing, my 11 year old daughter sees the Starbucks chick as topless and giggles every time she sees it. Opened my eyes.
