Gut shot? A head shot would be better so you don't spoil the meat.

Not a gut shot, the deer is supposed to have been cleaned

It's a lot of fun, and the meat can be very good

hae=have (although I am of Scottish descent).

Reindeer is caribou, and I'm told the meat ranges from good to so bad a dog won't eat it. It depends if the animal is harvested in the rut or not.
