BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -- The cowboy romance "Brokeback Mountain" led Golden Globe contenders Tuesday with seven nominations, among them best dramatic picture and honors for actors Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams and director Ang Lee, positioning itself as a key Academy Awards competitor.

Other best drama picture contenders were the murder thriller "The Constant Gardener," the Edward R. Murrow tale "Good Night, and Good Luck," the mobster story "A History of Violence," and the infidelity drama "Match Point."

Saw "The Squid and the Whale." It is very self-consciously "arty" although it has some outstanding performances. A word of warning: the youngest son is a compulsive masturbator in the film. I wouldn't recommend it for young children.

I know! It's just AMAZING! The breathtaking pig-headedness of the Left never ceases to amaze. This movie will do CRAP at the box office. There is no way possible that Americans are going to flock to see this movie; it will languish.

King Kong, on the other hand, will probably KICK BUTT and folks may very well go see it two and three times. Guys like Peter Jackson -- a man who loves making movies for the sheer joy of making them, a man who doesn't take himself or his movies too seriously -- are what keep box office receipts viable and the film industry in business. Wankers like Spielberg and the folks behind this turkey, on the other hand, take themselves and their movies WAY too seriously; it permeates their films and there is no joy in them at all.

The Oscars and the Golden Globes owe there existence to the Jacksons of the world, and they insist on rewarding the jackasses behind the likes of a movie about fantasy fag cowboys. That's RICH!

I think "those Hobbit movies" exhibited an incredible gutsiness in that Jackson made all three of them at once, which was a huge, enourmous risk on his part. I think "those Hobbit movies" had an overwhelming sense of not taking themselves too seriously, and it was refreshing compared to movies like "Saving Private Ryan" and even "E.T." Most of all, I know "those Hobbit movies" exhibited pure joy and fun in the art of making movies. You may think "they sucked," but I think you're looking at it from a pretty shallow perspective.

From your tag line:

Smartest words ever written by a Communist: "Show me the way to the next Whiskey Bar"

Wiskey Bar (Alabama song)

The Doors Alabama Song (Whiskey Bar) Lyrics

Well, show me the way
To the next whiskey bar
Oh, don't ask why
Oh, don't ask why
Show me the way
To the next whiskey bar
Oh, don't ask why
Oh, don't ask why
For if we don't find
The next whiskey bar
I tell you we must die
I tell you we must die
I tell you, I tell you
I tell you we must die
Oh, moon of Alabama
We now must say goodbye
We've lost our good old mama
And must have whiskey, oh, you now why
Oh, moon of Alabama
We now must say goodbye
We've lost our good old mama
And must have whiskey, oh, you now why
Well, show me the way
To the next little girl
Oh, don't ask why
Oh, don't ask why
Show me the way
To the next little girl
Oh, don't ask why
Oh, don't ask why
For if we don't find
The next little girl
I tell you we must die
I tell you we must die
I tell you, I tell you
I tell you we must die
Oh, moon of Alabama
We now must say goodbye
We've lost our good old mama
And must have whiskey, oh, you now why

With Ward Churchill rules that faerie could probably play Tonto in Bareback Mountain 2. LOL.

IMHO Bareback Mountain looks like a romantic comedy.

I thought the title was Bareback Mountin'.

The song was actually written by Bertolt Brecht, the Communist German playwright. You may also know his "Mackie der Messer" (aka Mack the Knife).

Interesting. NPR (classical music serves as filler between Rush and Savage during automobile trips) touted the song Mack the Knife during a name that tune show.

They're already talking sequel:

HEATH LECHER . . . . JAKE WILLINGHOLE

BACKDOOR MOUNTIN' II:
HOMO ON THE RANGE

A COUPLE OF COWPOKES

This movie is also nominated for Original Song.

OK, can anyone think up some really good lyrics?

Sorry, I'm not clever enough. Besides "Homo on the Range," of course."
