just root for the Bronx Bombers, we have all those rings, pennats and tradition

Arrggghhh!!! The rings... enough already with the rings!!! ;-)

Actually, as you know, I like Joe Torre and SOME of the other Yankees (there's a few I really don't like). And now more players I like are joining the Yanks... Maybe I'll remain neutral, that's it! But that's no fun...

I'm glad they are taking this showboater and his "Queer Eye" act out of town. The Yanks can have him.

Hmmm... you may be onto something there, Sam... ;-)

Just about!! They had an obscene $85 Million payroll advantage on any other team and baseball last year. Time for a salary cap.

The Yankees know how to get things done

They can have him. His arm is shot anyway. His bat is the only thing that will help the Yanks and even that has been questionable.

Everyone is saying that. Why?

Torn rotator cuff in his throwing arm. During the last part of this year he wasn't able to throw the ball but half way towards the infield.

It is a hard injury to come back from especially for an outfielder.
I tore mine earlier this year and it still ain't right. And let me tell you it hurts.

Talk about overpaying! Damon is a good ballplayer, but I think he topped out a year or two ago and has begun the gradual downhill side of his career. Might still be a marginal All-Star for another year or two. He's a good get-on-base guy, can cover the ground in CF--probably worth $8-9 mil per year for two-three years, but this contract is too high and too long. But hey, it's the Yanks.

I CANNOT picture Johnny Damon with short hair, no beard. . . .

For most of his career, Damon had no beard or long hair:

Center Field is deeper in Yanqui Stadium too. He'll probably need to see the team's pharmacist.

Bellhorn's gone. He was a free agent, and wouldn't take an assignment to Columbus.

Don't know if I can get used to the idea of having Damon around. I always hated his at-bats. And..he will definitely be getting a haircut and a shave! Might be like turning over a new leaf. Just hope his arm holds out in center field.

Eh, everybody's overpaying this year (A.J. Burnett et al), and Damon is getting the same money as Matsui, who is also overpaid. But if Damon brings them WS title #27, he won't seem quite so overpaid then.

Maybe Millar can hook him up with some of his old stash.

Seriously, I do think it's funny how Damon, who was phenomenally popular with Red Sox Nation, is all of a sudden a bum because he's a Yankee. The same thing happened with Pedro last year, and he had a pretty good year with the Mets as a has-been.
