Take a pork shoulder or half a fresh ham, and trim off as much fat as possible. Make a rub of salt, pepper, ginger, allspice and nutmeg. Coat the meat and place in the crock. Pack two packages of fresh sliced mushroom around the meat. Pour in enough good dark beer to cover everything. Let it cook all day.

Unnngh....that sounds awesome! Gotta try that!

Maybe a little too much work, but:

Brown lamb shanks in olive oil. Remove and place in crock pot. Brown onions, garlic and green peppers in same pan. Dump into crock pot. Add dried basil, thyme, oregano, parsley, salt and pepper (all to taste). Add a can of whole tomatoes. Poke the tomatoes with a spoon so they'll break up. Add a cup of red wine (or more if you like). Cook until done. It's almost impossible to overcook this. Serve over rice.

We buy these cheap thin slices of steak. I put them in the crock pot with a couple of envelopes of brown gravy mix and some onion soup mixed with a cup or so of water. Sometimes I throw in some green pepper slices and onion slices. We put them on some good tasting hamburger buns or hoagie buns with mozzarella or provolone cheese. It's an awesome steak sandwich. My son loves them and he doesn't like much of anything!

My favorite is "Swiss Steak"

3 lb Chuck roast
2 cans cream of mushroom soup
1 box of Swanson beef broth (this is the large size box--not the juice box size)
Salt and Pepper

Cook on low for about 12 hrs or until fork tender. The key to crock pot cooking is to get all of your ingredients in the pot and THEN turn it on. Don't turn it on and throw stuff in. And don't peek and release the heat in the early hours of cooking. Leave it alone!

You can reduce the "gravy" and put over just about anything. It's so good you'll want to eat it like a soup.

Browned cubed venison and beef, with white wine, applejuice, and flour. Add an assortment of cubed root vegetables on top. It's South African and called Potjki (pronounced poiky)
