The LA Times featured an interesting article this week on how producer Joel Silver, the Wachowski brothers (of the "Matrix" films) and Warner Brothers Pictures are worrying over the problems with their forthcoming, terror-themed film "V For Vendetta."

LOL Yeah, right. They're PRAYING for controversy to sell this thing. Unfortunately, there will be plenty of people who will give it to them, and boost this pro-terrorism movie's box office take. Most of it will probably come from this very site.
What ARE you talking about?
"Triumph of the Will" glorifies the Nazis. Replace "Triumph of the Will" with "V for Vendetta" and "Nazis" with "terrorists" and you get:
"V for Vendetta" glorifies the terrorists.
As you can see in the photo, she has a reputation for choosing Mr.Wrong.

The movie look interesting. If anything else, the 2nd Amendment part of me likes the poster motto about who should fear who.
And a penchant for WAY too much makeup. Looks like she's trying to cover up herpes symptoms.
Ummm isn't it about terrorists against a large oppressive government? I haven't read the graphic novel but I can't imagine that we will be seeing V blowing up women and children.
Wasn't it written in the era of Thatcher/Reagan's "oppressive" governments?
And in fantasy, the anti-hero never impacts the "innocent", only evil doers who "deserve" it.
Truth of the matter is that Al Qaida is perfectly willing to kill children if they happen to be playing in proximity to passing soldiers. I have yet to see a single protest march against Al Qaida. Even from thsoe who urge a global end to landmines.
Hmmm, character wearing a Guy Fawkes maks and cap ... Guy Fawkes and the Catholic revolt, blowing up Parliament, remembering Nov 5th and all that.
Interesting take and historical references.
And Hollywood didn't make "Triumph of The Will", that was very much a German home brew by Leni with Adolf's blessing.
V for Vendetta is "controversial" in that its hero is a terrorist. It will be interesting to see those who defend this movie saying "There you go saying we're supporting terrorists!" when in fact they are supporting just that message.
The hero is a terrorist in basically any negative eutopia film. That isn't a new idea. It certainly appears to be set up like the countless movies before it where the tag line is something like when freedom is outlawed, outlaws will become heroes.
I didn't suggest it was. But if you've looked at the pre-release hype, the message board discussions, the producer's comments, the actors' comments, then one has has to either see that this is a consciously anti-Bush film--a "Bush is the REAL enemy!" film--or else ignore reality.
"And Hollywood didn't make "Triumph of The Will", that was very much a German home brew by Leni with Adolf's blessing."
Yes, exactly. AFAIK, nobody said it was a Hollywood production.
They had to yank its Nov 5 (Guy Fawkes' Day) release after the London Underground bombings, given that the first big set piece of the movie is the bombing of a London Underground station...
So they reschedule the release for ST PATRICK'S DAY? I wonder if more than a few IRA sympathizers are going to cap off the holiday enjoying the spectacle of the Old Bailey and the Houses of Parliament blown to pieces.
The people behind this movie are like the NYTimes--they don't care about any kind of repurcussions of their actions, and they will just say "Free speech" in response to any violent fallout.
