Integrity and the NFL

I'm a Giant Fan. I was at the '56 Championship game against the Bears so I've been a Giant Fan for a long time. My season really ended last week. But I can't help myself, I watch these Playoff games any way.

I thought there were some bad calls yesterday, but the Steelers-Colts game was just too much. These calls were beyond bad. They were beyond inept. They were dishonest.

Specifically, I'm thinking of the non-call when all of the Colts came across the line of scrimmage and through the offensive line. If they weren't drawn off then they were offside. Why did the refs blow the whistle if there was no infraction? (And if they didn't whistle the play dead, why didn't the Steelers get penalized for Delay-of-Game?) The refs aren't supposed to be inventing new rules as they go along.

And then there was the overruled interception. Wow! What can any football fan say.

Fortunately the Steelers, won. But if they hadn't they should have been declared the winners by the League Office.

And none of the referees involved in this game should ever referee again.

The whole year has seen whacked out officiating and rules. The one that got me the most was that muffed punt call earlier this season on Monday night.

The game is getting too PC.

The Colts haven't had a pass interference penalty called on them all season.

That interception was a great call. It was 100% wrong, but I like anybody but the Steelers and their arsey coach. I agree with your analysis though. Calls are getting worse and sometimes appear to be just plain crooked. I turned the Colts-Steelers game on during the challange. There was no doubt it was an interception. Where did that knee rule come from?? Ten years ago I would not have missed a play, now I just wait for the final score. Never watch basketball anymore and baseball is just about as bad.

Dont get me started on basketball oficiating. I'm with there as far as watching.

Someday they may actually call a travel call in the NBA and college is just as wishy washy.

Did you just see the blown call on the Panther's game? A fumle returned for a touchdown by the Panthers was overturned! What a crock!

This has been one of the worst weekends for NFL officiating that I have ever seen, really bad.

Thank goodness that these bad calls didn't ultimately interfere with "Payoff" Manning's attempt to give the game away. ;-)

I agree with you totally. You can tell even before the game starts when you see who the referees are that things will get screwy. Every time I watch a game that the Triplett crew works (like th Patriot/Broncos game yesterday) I always say to my wife before kickoff..oh sh*t, these refs are terrible. They never "disappoint" with their ineptitude. The NFL has a REAL problem with their refereeing.

Now during the Panther's game a receiver is clearly out of bounds and gets slammed by the Bears defense with the ref within feet of the play. Guess the NFL wants a large market team to win (da bears)!

In basketball, you want to make sure you take the game out of the officials hands.

This is true in politics. It you don't want he dems stealing the election, you need to win by 3% or they will steal it.

I'm just shaking my head. No longer does the ball carrier have to possess the ball to score a TD. Just get it in the vicinity.

The Colts got away with another obvious pass interference this week too. Randel El got raped on a long pass play and there was no call. It would have given the Steelers a 1st down inside the 20 and could have lead to a 21 - 0 score.

Which reminds me - I've never really been a big Ben Stiller fan, but I am a fan of Big Ben of the Stillers!
