Clooney whacked over wisecrack
George Clooney may have gotten laughs in Hollywood when he poked fun at disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff at the Golden Globes, but not all TV viewers appreciated Clooney's wit.
Especially not Abramoff's dad, Frank Abramoff.
The joke went as follows: "Who would name their kid 'Jack' with 'off' at the end? No wonder the guy's screwed up."
Abramoff Sr. was not amused.
He writes: "Your glib and ridiculous attack on my son, Jack, coupled with your obscene query as to the choice his mother and I made in naming him brought shame and dishonor on you and your profession. What drove you to this lapse in lucidity, I can never know, but you need to know that your words were deeply hurtful to many innocent and decent people."
Abramoff went on to suggest that as a Hollywood dignitary, Clooney should be above such jibes. (Apparently, he didn't watch Chris RockChris Rock at the Oscars last year.)
"Is this the tradition of Gable, Bogart, Pacino and Burton?" he wrote. "Are you the heir to the dignity and greatness of Hollywood's past, or, more likely, a portent to a depressing and horrific future?"
A shrinking mandate for 'Commander'
Commander In Chiefs Geena Davis may have walked away with the Best Actress in a Drama award during Mondays Golden Globes, but among the American voting public she's sliding in the opinion polls that matter most, the ratings. more ...
I wish we never heard the name Abramhoff. I don't agree with Clooney, but if Abramhoff didn't get himself into this mess there would be no jokes.
I can field this one.
No and yes, respectively. But answer #2 pertains to the present as well.

This is par for the course for Clooney. Abramoff must be unaware of Clooneys' "joke" regarding Charleton Heston and alzheimers.
Clooney is a vile, petty little maggot.
Aggravated, perhaps, by a certain public fondness for the bottle?
I'd think rare moments of lucidity are more Clooney's style.
Sadly, not unlike many of today's Hollywood luminaries. Add Clooney to the growing list of pinheads whose movies I refuse to watch. As an NRA member, I found his comments about Heston particularly disgusting. What a gutless turd!
Jag!
Unfortunate too because prior to a couple years ago, I actually enjoyed his work.
'Little Jackie' was disqualified for exceeding the spending limit. The principal penalized 'Jackie' for holding a party, stating it amounted to a campaign expenditure that pushed him over the allowed budget. Not that Clooney isn't a maggot, but me thinks your 'parenting skills' left a little to be desired as to 'morals & honesty'.
"Clooney," as in "Looney."
Poor George, he can't help it. He was born with a silver foot in his mouth.
You left out "who's utterly devoid of talent".
"Your glib and ridiculous attack on my son, Jack, coupled with your obscene query as to the choice his mother and I made in naming him brought shame and dishonor on you and your profession. What drove you to this lapse in lucidity, I can never know, but you need to know that your words were deeply hurtful to many innocent and decent people."
George: Since you might have difficulty with the big words, what Mr. Abramhoff said is, "You're an asshole". |
