Not good. I've been told 5 times I look like the Jake guy from that movie. Don't know if it's good to look like a gay cowboy.

"It has become," Schamus says, "officially uncool as a guy to say 'No' to your girlfriend to this movie.

I'm betting Schamus is as queer as a three dollar bill.

Ewwwwwwwwww... who goes to see two cowhands doing it like goats rubbed together? Not this retrosexual.

I though they were citing "gross per theater" and keeping that number high by limiting the number of theaters. I can't believe that movie is as "mainstream" as they are trying to make it appear.

Only if you're a gutless metrosexual dating a fag hag. I suspect this is all wishful thinking on the part of the moviemakers. Trendy art theaters in college towns may boost sales, but this movie will never be mainstream.

Another gay sheepherder film thread?

Gays and nitwit women are flocking to see this movie. Has nothing to do with mainstream America.

And for the 5 billionth time, let's clarify that this movie is about gay sheep herders...not cowboys.

The problem w/ "news" like this is that it comes from a discredited source, CBS, and it fits the premise that they want it to be true so much that would publish it whether it were true or not.

Frankly, I have a real hard time believing this movie made any money in pittsburgh.

Millions of females dragging their dates to see this. A total chick flick.

Sort of a Lysistrata phenomenon.

What a way for a guy to have to prove his love. All I can think of is Al Bundy having to sit through the director's cut of Bridges of Madison County, with 20 extra minutes of footage that wasn't shown in the theater.

Now, it's arguably become the country's hottest date movie, Cagle says. "It has become," Schamus says, "officially uncool as a guy to say 'No' to your girlfriend to this movie.

Uncool is now cool.

but has raked in close to $45 million dollars so far, more than triple its modest budget.

Didn't the penguin movie take in more than that in its first couple of days?

Gross , the very idea of men behaving like that is just to weird for me. I don't know anyone claiming they are going or have gone to see it.

Star Heath Ledger was drawn to the role despite the film's sensitive subject matter because "the story was so heavy and beautiful, and (because of) the opportunity to investigate this character, this incredibly complex figure."

He had to get in touch with his innner queer side lol

Well, I'm safe from having to face the stigma of being "uncool."

Mrs. Southside 1. Doesn't like westerns and 2. Especially wouldn't like this "western." She does like "love stories" but I don't believe this one would be her cup of tea.

As for me, I like my cowboys, sheepherders, etc., the same way I like my whiskey -- straight.

The top 342 films in the USA of all time begin at $100,000 gross and range up to $600,000. This film is at $42K. Hardly an all-timer.

And because he is a closet homo. John Wayne would NEVER have played a sissy-boy, gay sheephearder.

What really drew Heath Ledger to the role? Gay movies are always winners of Oscars and Golden Globe, putting him into a higher pay bracket for his future movie roles.
