Succinct.

I've seen the first beta of IE 7. Not impressed--FF 1.5 is infinitely better.

Funny. One would think MS would cover their bases by securing the domain, but then, they've let microsoft.com expire a couple of times haven't they?

Wish they'd get Firefox for PocketPC fixed up.. Still aimed towards cell phones rather than the powerful PDAs that are on the market.

On the bright side, Opera just issued a test version of their browser for PPC, and wow, gives good hope for Firefox when/if it is ever done.

Yeah, total geek now - Axim x51v tethered to a V3 Razr so I can be online anywhere... Just can't give up my FreeRepublic when I'm on the road...

Do you browse web sites on your PPC? I used a Dell Axis a couple of years ago (for a research project) and found that browsing the web was not really an easy experience. I didn't like the OS either (for the lack of multitasking).

Re: web sites - the main limitations appeared to be the limited screen size of the Pocket PC and the poor design of most "Pocket PC friendly" web sites. Has web site design improved over the years in your opinion?

I downloaded it and tried it (IE 7). For some reason the address bar and other buttons switches off when you get to
a page and you have to kind of mouse over to the upper
right hand corner to get it back. Naah. *--using Firefox now

Well N3WBI3 you outdid yourself this time!  MS has egg all over their face with this one.

BTW: Has anyone tested IE7 yet?  Besides the usual anti-MS rhetoric, can anyone tell what new and improved features it has?

microsoft.com has expired twice, and I think hotmail.com once. Sad, really.

I'm runnin FF 1.0, and that's probably about as far as I will go. Been running it since Firebird .6

The problem with all these packages is that as they mature the author feels like putting some neat little reporting things in it.

I don't need my browser to be doing spyware on me.

I've got the top of the line Dell Axim; fast processor, plenty of memory, and a 640x480 screen. Using the bundled Internet Explorer, browsing is ok, but tedious. Using Mimno, the Firefox test for PocketPC it is better. Using Opera, it is about as good as it will probably ever get.

Multitasking? Streaming MP3 off of my audio server, browsing the Internet while my e-mail downloads. Has CPU power to spare. About the only time I max it out is when I'm streaming digital video, and only on extremely jerky scenes where the camera zooms from one subject to another right after one another.

WindowsMobile5 fixes a lot of the problems with earlier versions, but I still feel some days that I'm using experimental technology. Rom updates have fixed a lot of problems, but I still have issues that crop up. None that can't be fixed with a soft-reboot, but every time I do, I wipe my Suduko score for the toughest level (don't ask me why...)

Only thing that could make it better would be a side slide out thumb board for typing, though the character recognition software is some of the best I've ever used.

The HPs have vastly improved over the last few years as well; I recommend looking at them once again if you dismissed them before.

I don't have any computers that would run it, but I'd be interested in hearing an unbiased (if there is such a thing), review of it. From what little I've heard, I'd say it is about where FF was a year or two ago.
