"The Super Bowl was won by a superior team having a bad game, but still good enough to be a lesser team."

ugh... what a miserable game. I guess as long as your team wins thats all that matters to you huh?

Unless the camera is exactly at the front of the goal line and perpendicular to it, that picture (and your line) mean nothing.

If you looked at the replay there was a blocker between Hasselbeck and the ball carrier. He was called for that, NOT the tackle. You cannot block a blocker below the knees that way.

Really bad angle. The last replay they showed in slow mo looked right down the white line, and the ball crossed over the white line (which is part of the end zone).

This picture means nothing...awful angle to read.

Pittsburg won the Referees Bowl. We will just have to wait another year to see if we can have a real Superbowl Champion. The bad refs spoiled it for both teams.

"I think Seattle would have won had the officials been fair"

The use of the word "fair" implies deliberate bias, and I don't think you're going to get much agreement on that one, outside of your fellow Seahawks fans. Rather than taint the whole thing with woulda-coulda-shoulda and "the refs sucked," why don't you just be proud your team made it to the Superbowl and let it be? There will be other seasons and other Superbowl teams from Seattle. If history is any guide, we may not live to see it, lol, but I have no doubt they'll make it back there.

"You cannot block a blocker below the knees that way."

Lets get one thing straight. You cannot block a blocker! You think he was trying to hit the blocker? He was going for the ball carrier and the blocker got in the way. Of all the questionable calls last night this is the one where there is no debate possible. The officials simply screwed up. They misinterpreted the rules.

A defensive player cannot block below the knees, or block above the knees for that matter. Defensive players can only be blocked they cannot block.

Touchdown, Steelers. Good picture. But it won't convince the Steeler haters.

Hmmm. OK. That's NOT where forward motion stopped. Also, because of the angle of the camera lens relative to the goal line, this photo is basically useless in making any final determination (parallax error).

I am still looking for the low-angle shot that is nearly exactly aligned with the goal line. I know it exists, at least in video, because it's what they showed as one of the replay shots during the game. It pretty clearly shows the ball breaking the plane.

I am not a Seahawks fan, in fact they seem to be an endangered species. I just wanted to see a good game, and this wasn't one thanks to the officials. I don't know if it was deliberate on the part of the officials or not. All I know is they suck.

THAT'S the one I've been looking for! Hopefully it's out there in a little less blurry form - but that shows precisely what I recall seeing. The ball broke the plane - then was pushed back. TD!

I'm amazed at how so many FReepers are turning into conspiracy theorist DUmmies over this game. I can't wait to see the DUmmie Funnies version of Loonie-Left-Wing-Seattle's melt down.

Maybe you can start chanting "Selected-not-elected?"

You guys (and you know who you are) are making a mistake, and are creating an image for your team that won't soon dissipate. The Steelers defense won this game. If it weren't for an errant throw, which should have been an easy 6 for Pittsburgh, and the longest interception runback in Super Bowl history, you wouldn't have had more than THREE POINTS! That one play was a 14 point turnaround. Without that gift, Pittsburgh wins this game 28-3.

In the endzone penalty, your guy clearly pushed off. Yes it was a letter-of-the-law penalty, but it was a penalty nonetheless. If you don't like it, get the rules changed, don't attempt to legislate through the referrees, like some DUmmie SCOTUS activist. He pushed off, just a little, but he pushed off.

And if you think that there was enough visual evidence in the Roethlisberger TD replay to overturn, then you saw wrong. You'll get over it.

Yeah, I know. I drew some more lines on the pic and re-posted it. Back up to the pic and take a look. But, as I said, if that was the EXACT spot forward motion stopped, it doesn't look like a clear-cut TD to me. But I suspect the motion was still going forward after the pix was snapped, as others are saying that the ball was over the line. All I'm doing here is showing an imaginary fence when the pix was snapped. Wouldn't take but another frame or two to show the TD.

I;m done with this subject. Anyone who is dense enough to think that WAS NOT need to check out the NFL rules.

Actions that constitute offensive pass interference include but are not limited to:

(a) Blocking downfield by an offensive player prior to the ball being touched.

(b) Initiating contact with a defender by shoving or pushing off thus creating a separation in an attempt to catch a pass.

(c) Driving through a defender who has established a position on the field.

Actions that do not constitute offensive pass interference include but are not limited to:

(a) Incidental contact by a receiver’s hands, arms, or body when both players are competing for the ball or neither player is looking for the ball.

(b) Inadvertent touching of feet when both players are playing the ball or neither player is playing the ball.

(c) Contact that would normally be considered pass interference, but the ball is clearly uncatchable by involved players.

http://www.nfl.com/fans/rules/passinterference

Bolded Text is the key passage of the rules. Sure had that not happened DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE BACKJUDGE it probably wouldn't have been called, but it did.

Yes they maybe be professional. However the reason to have replay is there too make sure they make the right call. Based on the replay showed that rothlesburger didnt get across that line when he was downed. He only pushed the ball over when he was already down.
