Bean counters as the CEO's of GM were the beginning of GM's decline
Of interest ping
Who is John Galt ?
Mr. K would like his money back, with interest, please....
And your point is?
Maybe at this point GM needs an axman
I thought he was the second Darren on Bewitched.
Maybe he will be "bewitching" Rick Wagoner
My point is it makes no difference. GM has been hamstrung by gov't directives and opposition to creativity; i.e requirements to provide health insurance to all employees , and gov't backing of unions and their unreasonable demands on GM, and so on. GM doing what the employee should be doing for himself, and Gov't treating GM like a monopolistic cash cow in the 50's and 60's. And now theyre doomed
So who cares who Jerry is, it's all for nought. There's nothing that can be done, they carry this albatross to the grave.... Who is John Galt?
Nope, he's the Boston College Hockey coach! BEAT BU!

an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.

Incompetence, gov't meddling, lassitude, corruption, whatever... But dont get me wrong. I wish Jerry York (wan't he the first Darren in Bewitched?) the best of luck.
I think the US quality is probably fine for the most part now, they just have to win back the buyers.
I wish him luck also as I am a GM employee and perhaps he will "bewitch" Rick Wagoner.....LOL
Back in the 50's and 60's there was little overseas competition and even after that the gov't squashed some of it (ie thru tarrifs on truck imports, etc), and so the company got fat and lazy and gave in to the unions. The pension liabilty and health care costs will probably squeeze out any significant turnaround, without further gov't propping up, which I think will be a mistake and a waste of resources.
In a total market environment this dinosaur would be put to sleep. It's a shame, and there are well intentioned people out there who care, but I think the curtain has dropped.
Your right, many GM cars are high quality but the perception by many that they are not needs to be changed
Hopefully some new desgins will help
Actually the Chevy HHR is selling like hotcakes
Its a high volume build with a Retro-look design
NOPE--we have to learn to love competing...not protecting ourselves from competitors.
First step: get rid of the unions.
Aaaaah!! You scared me.
