Yawn ...
She probably thinks the President is Geena Davis.
"Kinda up to her I guess"
Just wondering what her politics are. I got the impression she wanted to snub Pres. Bush publicly.
But would that learn her?
I don't think that is the case. She does a lot of work for Operation Smile. I don't think she wants to politicize it by being seen as supporting one side or the other while she is in town supporting the cause.
There should be a third choice: "Who gives a rat's ass."
There are some things penicillin won't cure!
Another ditzy chick. Makes a living posing with come-hither looks over her shoulder. This is a talent? Never could understand the publicity.
But...First she agreed to meet the Pres...THEN she snubbed him.
Question for Ms S: Does this mean the fund raiser will accumulate more or less money for kids who need cleft surgery? If it means less money for the kids (almost certainly it does)...then you're disgracefully stupid and ought to make up the difference from your own pocketbook.
Question for the charity: Are you PAYING this bimbo to show up for publicity for the cause?
...Which means that Bono is every bit as much of an airhead as Simpson (pretends to be).
the less hollyweird, the better...
I think Jessica Simpson supported Bush in the last election.
From what I heard on the radio this am, she just didn't want to mix politics with fundraising. I don't think this is a snub.
Actually, President Bush should have refused to meet her. What a bimbo...
"Who gives a rat's ass."
Many polls would benefit from that choice.
As I recall, she offered to perform at the Republican convention, but was turned down?
Help, anyone?
"I think Jessica Simpson supported Bush in the last election"
If ya got a link, I will put her on my good list.
I bet the PR people told her she'll be blackballed in the Clintons' Hollywood if she doesn't stop hanging out with Republicans. Did someone say "good night and good luck"? The lawyers probably also got to her and "advised" that she risked her foundation's tax-exempt status if she went to a GOP fundraiser.
I have no idea who she is, but such behavior demonstrates a lack of class. She must be a young person successfully indoctrinated to be a socialist democrat I would guess. The Democrats as a group, recently are publicly displaying callous, crude behavior uncharacteristic of a highly developed society; more like what you would expect in a third world country.
I thought Simpson was a Republican who voted for Bush in the last election.
She's so dumb she probably thinks President Bush is the thing she just shaved off.
I'm not going to diss her on this one. She seems to want to really do well with this charity and she is right. It shouldn't have any political overtones to it. And the way the press tends to sway stories she is probably smart to take this action.
I agree.
We could dignify it by amending it to read ".....rodent's rectal area." :-)
We must then disagree then, because it sure smells like "spin control".
If I were promoting a cause and the President of the USA took a personal interest in it, I would milk it for all the publicity I could get because it would benefit the cause.
Besides, isn't she a PAID spokesman for this group? Not exactly selfless.
Her pimp (Dad) wouldn't give her permission.
President Bush should refuse to meet with Jessica Simpson. :)
"".....rodent's rectal area"
Much more polite.
Thank you. ;-)
Where does it say he took a personal interest in the cause? She was offered some private time with the President. Sounds to me like the event planners trying to sweeten the deal to get her to show up. I seriously doubt he was even informed of why she was in town.
Further, I seriously doubt she ever agreed to go to the I would bet they leaked a story about her participating in hopes of making it hard for her to turn down.
Though Hollywood contains a few acknowledged and proud Bush supporters such as Mel Gibson, Bruce Willis, Jessica Simpson and Britney Spears they will not be making official appearances.
On the Wikipedia link, there is an alphabetical order list on the page where you can see her name.
I just hope that I can get within spitting distance of the Clintons at some point in my life.
Thanks. Here is the relevant quote from the article in the Washington Times (see post #32)
"Though Hollywood contains a few acknowledged and proud Bush supporters such as Mel Gibson, Bruce Willis, Jessica Simpson and Britney Spears they will not be making official appearances. "
>>>Just wondering what her politics are. I got the impression she wanted to snub Pres. Bush publicly.>>>
She's actually been a long time republican, but then again, Hollywood has changed her from a Christian singer to a full out floozy. So it's possible she has changed positions (no pun intended) and also 'rebelling' against her authoritative husband, Nick.
She is a ditz whose time will be soon be up.
"Though Jessica Simpson and Britney Spears have both acknowledged past support of President Bush, they are also New York no-shows"
Hmmmmm, Hollyweird getting to her?
Why should I care about Jessica Simpson. She and her parents sold their souls for fame and fortune.
Read the question as written, not as the OP framed it. She would happily meet with him but not as a guest at a party fundraiser. She's separating George W. Bush, U.S. President, from George W. Bush, head of the Republican Party. I think we really run the risk of backlash if we turn this into something it isn't.
Once upon a time ... it was an honor to meet the President of the United States. Except for most of the 1990s, of course.
I've always tried to do so, but I'm not Jessica Simpson, whoever she is.
Just curious... are you by chance from the north Dallas area?
I'm sure the Prez sits up at night and and worries about jessica simpson and the chicks. HA,HA,HA.OHO,HO, HEEE, HA, HAH.
people have been bashing Bush since day one and you are now concerned about backlash?
I am worried that celebrities who have been supportive of the president, overwhelmingly from the south and west and from the country music scene, are going to feel like they're being blackmailed into attending fundraisers. Simpson is walking a fine line here as an advocate for a charity and I don't think she should be punished for making the call to avoid a party fundraiser.
