That's not even Jimmy Page's best solo.
Word.

thanks for the ping! good list, except no freebird or AC/DC. and I think Metallica's Fade to Black solo is better than Enter Sandman.
that's the problem with these lists, theyre all so subjective and everyone on the board gets offended because one or two of their favorites is missing. =P hahaha
but i do agree with #1!!!

What makes no sense to me is that Archie Bleyer (owner of Candance Records) let his daughter name that song (originally Link was calling it Oddball) and then Archie dropped Link because of the bad press.

I could name 10 Zappa solos off the top of my head that would put anything on that list to shame. You are now officially on my FF (Favorite FReeper) list!

That's not even Jimmy Page's best solo.I'm inclined to agree with you, but I'm coming up blank trying to think of a better one.
Almost all of Page's solos have memorable moments, but the Stairway solo looked at as a complete musical statement is hard to top. It builds, it resolves, it has distinct sections, and all of his phrases are meaningful, well-placed, and move the "plot" forward.
My other favorite Zep solos would the ones on I'm Gonna Crawl, Since I've Been Loving You, and No Quarter. Fool in the Rain also has a good and underappreciated solo.

I agree.
I first heard Joe's musical talents on "Flying In A Blue Dream" in the late 80's.
There's is something extra great about his music in that much of it is instrumental--he lets his guitar do the singing.

Zeppelin Sucked. Part of the early 70s Prog Rock/Hard Rock jet setting Limeys like ELP and Yes that RUINED ROCK AND ROLL!
The best guitarists are those like George Harrison and early Clapton, that played solos that FIT THE SONG, rather than DETRACT from it a la Zeppelin, Van Halen.
My Fave guitar solos are Danny Cedrone's on "Rock Around the Clock", Otis Rush's solo on "All Your Love" and Lonnie Mack's solo on the Doors' "Roadhouse Blues."
Again, it was pretentious sh-t by 70s hair bands that RUINED rock and roll. Ten minute solos? PUH-LEEZE!

Best Zeppelin album (the only one I can tolerate) is the third album, especially the acoustic stuff on side two.
Man, amazing how Bobby Plant now looks like an old woman.
