A domestic dispute Sunday evening left a Moffat County man dead, shot in the chest by his ex-girlfriend's son in an incident police say was justifiable self-defense.
Craig Police say Mario Vigil...broke into a home...armed with a .30-30-caliber rifle.
The homeowner, whose name has not been released, grabbed a shotgun, shot Vigil once in the chest, and hid in a bedroom with his 9-year-old son...
The gunshot wounded Vigil but did not stop him...
Vigil shot through the door of the room the homeowner was hiding in and tried to break down the door...
The homeowner grabbed another gun, a .30-06-caliber rifle, and shot Vigil through the door, striking him in the hip...
When police arrived, they found Vigil dead...
The homeowner and his son were still hiding in the bedroom...
Vigil had been involved in a domestic dispute earlier Sunday involving his ex-girlfriend ...
In that incident, police said Vigil fired one shot at his ex-girlfriend and threatened to hurt her family, including her grandson.

And the bonus is the taxpayers won't have to try, convict and support this turd for whatever length his sentence would have been.

It was supposed to be a lung shot but the entered behind one leg and then on the exit expanded and blew his leg off!
My dad kinda scolded me. I was 17 I think. Now I go for the head or neck or I don't shoot.
I'm wondering about that too. When one gets shot in the chest with a shot gun it's usually pretty much of an argument stopper.
it appears that it would have unnecessary if the man had been put in custody after he intruded and shot at the mother a few days before...That would have saved this man and his young son the trama
