Hank Williams Jr. surrenders to police

MEMPHIS, April 4 (UPI) -- Country music star Hank Williams Jr. Tuesday surrendered to police on charges he allegedly assaulted a Memphis waitress.

Williams, 56, cut short a hunting trip after learning a warrant and an all-points-bulletin had been issued for him, E! Online reported.

With his attorney in tow, he reported to Shelby County Sheriff's deputies and was booked on a charge of assault with intent to commit bodily harm.

Holly Hornbeak, a 19-year-old Memphis hotel bar waitress, claimed Williams cursed at her, asked to kiss her, then lifted her up in a choke hold when she refused just after midnight on March 18.

Williams' publicist, Kirt Webster, released a statement saying his client was a victim of greed and extortion would be proven innocent of the assault charge.

Webster said Hornbeak's attorney demanded "an outlandish amount of money" to settle out of court and when Williams refused, threatened to file suit against the singer.

Too many nights alone have left some permanent scars. I'd like to see her again,........... but I over did it in Denver and just can't remember her name.

"Later, I learned that he had some sort of disfiguring accident, and that is why he wears the sunglasses."

I think those shades became a habit to cover his stoned or bloodshot eyes. He was a real party hardy guy....

"OD'd in Denver"
By Hank Williams Jr.

#Key of G

G/ G

G
We started the tour
D
Out in Denver Colorado

I made the first one
G
But I did not make the second show

G
Cause I met this girl there
C
That brought about quite a big change
G
But, I OD'd in Denver
D G
And I just can't remember her name

G
I guess you could say
D
That my love life was not up to par

Too many nights alone
G
Had left some permanent scars

G
She told me she loved me
C
And I told her that I'd do the same
G
Then I OD'd in Denver
D G
And I just can't remember her name

Chorus
G C
Well, I brought it on myself
G
And I guess that I shouldn't complain
D ( on 2nd X)
Doc says, "Son, you can't "Be damned if I'll ever
G
Do anymore of that cocaine!"

C
Well she made me higher
G C / D
Than all of those expensive things
G
But I OD'd in Denver
D G
Wish I could remember her name

G
Now I turned to other things
D
Trying to make my daydreams real

But they don't take the place
G
Of a woman's face and her feels

G
Cause she treated me nice
C
And I'd like to find her again
G
But I OD'd in Denver
D G
And I just can't remember her name

Repeat Chorus

Add
G
Kinda' over did it in Denver
D G
And I just can't remember the name!

I remember reading years ago that Hank went on stage to do a concert--kept forgetting the words, cursing at the audience--drunk. Stormed off stage, later apologized.

His tour sponsor was not pleased: Budweiser.

---
Stop and think it over. Put yourself in my position.
If I get stoned and sing all night long it's a family tradition.

So don't ask me:
Hank why do you drink? Hank, why do you roll smoke?

Why must you live out the songs that you wrote?
If I'm down in a honky-tonk some ole slick's trying to give me friction.

I said leave me alone I'm singing all night long it's a family tradition.

Lord I have loved some ladies and I have loved Jim Beam and they both tried to kill me in 1973.

When that doctor asked me, Son how did you get in this condition?

I said, hey sawbones, I'm just carrying on an ole family tradition.

Who's the raccoon wearing the Country Hall of Fame T-shirt? :) (it's me...photo manipulation by me. The Hall of Fame shirt was bought last year when I visited Nashville and Memphis.)

yes--as detailed in the movie Living Proof. The beard and sunglasses help hide the scars

Boston/Kennedy version of "I'm Hank Williams Jr., Bitch": "...DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM...?"

The Peabody hotel, eh? The place with the duck march. A friend told me about it but I didn't go there when in Memphis last June (and I was told it's pronounced "Pea-boe-dee", unlike the Mass. city which is pronounced "PEA-bih-dee" around here)

I hope they throw the book at the egomaniacal jerk.

Ive enjoyed his Dads music for quite some time - I dont care much of Jr's stuff with the exception of the Whiskey bent and Hellbound album....and maybe Montana Cafe

I saw him twice....."ego" is the nice word

Holly Hornbeak

If the face meets the name, Hank must have switched his shades for beer goggles...

I always like the way Glen Campbell put up more of a fight being arrested than Saddam Hussein did when he was captured during the same week. On this thing with Hank, I suspect it's a money grab.

To: Revolting cat!

Most of our outstanding, near legendary, artists would get dumped from those trite and superficial little contests like American Idol. Even making the comparison seems silly to me.

He doesn't look so bad.

I love Hank and his pappy but take it from me....Hank Jr is one uber-horndoggie.

He has never been tamed like me.....never

"I am Hank Jr Fan."

Circa 1960 I had gone to a concert in which he was the opening act. He was 9-10-11 and just starting his career. His mother, Minnie Pearl and Grandpa Jones were on stage with him and the act had a Opry flair about it. With the exception of his youthful pitch, he truly duplicated SR's music.

I have no recollection of his career following that until his style change whiched I liked.

I remember there was some controversy among his fans when he changed with many preferring his earlier style and saying that he should honor his fathers style. That was all put away when he recorded with Ernest Tubb. In that recording Tubb made that lyrical statment, "let the boy sing his song".

I see your point....also, at least Mr. Campbell had more wisdom to not put himself in a spider hole like Sadaam.
