Ladies, beware of dashing men. They could be dangerous.
Young men who are good-looking and know it are more likely to engage in risky sex than guys who have a less positive body image, according to a new study from researchers at Pennsylvania State University. However, sexually active young women who are happy with their looks are less likely to undertake those same risks, which include having sex without condoms and sex with multiple partners.
The study: Led by Dr. Eva S. Lefkowitz, associate professor of human development and family studies, and graduate student Meghan M. Gillen, the Penn State team wanted to find out if body image plays a role in risky sexual behavior and attitudes. The researchers interviewed 434 students, ages 17 to 19, during the fall of their first year at college. The students, who were fairly equally split down gender lines, were white, black and Latino. Nearly all identified themselves as heterosexual. Fully 86 percent said they were Protestant or Catholic, and a little more than half either were currently or had been sexually active.
The results: Both men and women who were sexually active evaluated their appearance in a more positive way, were less dissatisfied with their bodies and were more oriented toward their appearance than those who abstained from sex. "A positive view of one's body may provide an extra dose of confidence for males and, as a result, these men may be confident enough to seek multiple sexual partners and engage in unprotected sex--behaviors that exemplify the stereotypical male role of sexual freedom," said Gillen.
Among sexually active young women, the confidence that comes from a positive body image may work in the opposite way to empower them to resist multiple partners and insist that a condom be used when they do engage in sex.
The study findings were published in the Journal of Youth and Adolescence.

I would attribute the difference to the way men and women look at sex, and how they perceive opposite sex. In general, men see sex as something they get, women see sex as something they give.
Scientists say that 90% of all non-gay good-looking men are premature ejaculators.

Same applies to women. When I was a boy growing up, everybody wanted the blond bombshell like Marilyn Monroe or Madonna. But I knew better. I knew those girls were nothing but trouble. So I stuck with the plain Janes and I never regretted one minute of it. Plain Janes can be pretty good looking too and they are much more loyal.
If you want to happy for the rest of your life,
never make a pretty woman your wife.
So for my personal point of view,
get an ugly girl to marry you.
