The Hobbit Hole XXIX - Until the stars are all alight...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 04/20/2006 2:10:46 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Until the stars are all alight

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

If you find either one cheap at a garage sale, go for it.

Can't hurt...

Wait until just after Father's Day and hit the garage sales, you might find a used gas grill that got replaced ;-)

Not a bad point, but they'll be on sale for Memorial Day weekend too...

But if yer hankerin' to get somethin' right away, get a Hibachi. They're not too spendy and easily transportable for picnics and such.

I like Pippin's goatee, too. It makes him look very 'rakish'.

bittygirl's new mantra is "what's this, mama?"

however, I SWEAR, she *just* said, "what's this, precious?"

Yep, definitely should have taken out those curve setters. Nice to have it done with though I bet :) I doubt it will be that bad.

Welll... I'm talking to the curve setter and he thinks the high grade will be a 50, so... I mean there was an 18 point question that *no one* had any clue how to answer.

It is nice to be done though. I want a pizza tonight.

Ouch! That question was so bad it killed the thread...

I will...someday. But the future is just so iffy right now I don't want to start anything new.

I remember how you were encouraging my mom to get a puppy when her old poodle died...heh...you did a good job...she got two!

I got the fence down. The chicken run fence. Got it all down. Put away their feeder and waterer. Only thing left is the actual coop and I can't get that by myself. I'm gonna have Steve haul it around to the side of the house where I can't see it all the time. It'll be waiting when I get my future chicks. Also photographed the hole where the dog came in and then closed it with a board and some bricks.

So my back yard is almost back to being just a plain back yard. Gosh...how long has it been? I can't remember but it seems like we got them in May, was it three years ago??

I can't recall. Bear, can you help me out? When did I first get the chickens?

It's Friday afternoon, the thread is always quiet.

I came home early, just in time (literally, I wasn't even inside yet) to catch the FedEx dude, so that saved me a trip. Yay!

:-(

I certainly hope that bit of land is in the near future, chica. There are chickens out there who'd give their best eggs to be babied like that!

Well, except for the meat chickens. They'd prefer you to stay home and eat beef.

I think you're right about the timing 2J. You had them before ~the Scouring~ and that was July/August 2003.

Don't ask me how I remember that...

You haven't convinced any of us that you shouldn't get more chicks, but you'll do whatever you're gonna do :~]

Even if you move relatively soon, I think chickens are portable. :~D

You know we got about a half-dozen eggs a week! After all this time, they still laid pretty well! Benny took a bit of time off when her crop was impacted, but once I cleared that, she went right back to laying.

I personally find that amazing.

I wonder what all-natural "no antibiotic" free-range hen eggs go for...

Well, I have three of their eggs left in the fridge. Think I'm gonna make a cake!

Yeah...didn't the Clampetts have chickens in their car when they moved to Beverly Hills?

Heh heh...

Heh....once you go back to having to buy anemic-looking store eggs, you'll be smuggling Buff Orpies chicks home in your pocketses!

*smiles*
