Well, many commie groups have claimed to be in support of or involved in the organisation of this action. Folks forget that the commies remain a threat to the Federal Republic.
Commies and mafia-esque organizers and coordinators. Chiefly what I suspect and fear is more fascistic than Marxist--little dictators dealing in power swaps and corruption.
According to your FReeperpage, it reads, "A guy who can get things fixed."
I suggest you fix it by hiring some teens who aren't afraid of work. Or some retirees. Or some Veterans.
I think there's going to be a lot of new hirings reported next month. ANOTHER thing that makes Bush look good and counters the left as they shoot themselves in the foot yet again.
Well, SS card is not a photo ID - or does SS web site provide the mug shot of the rightful SS# possessor? It's not enough to check the correspondence of name to number. INS documents have mug shots, and so do US passports - and the paper trail of an inquiry to INS or State Dept [whether the document # such and such, Xerox copy provided, is genuine or not] ought to suffice.
Yes,
My concern is that this seems much more coordinated than one would expect. One of these people/protesters is about 60 yrs old, and in no way an activist of any kind. I'm a little shocked that they would even bother with such things.
By the way. The CHP was gracious and thankfull that I called. They didn't say whether others had called in, but did say that it was going to be a busy day.
OK, what got deleted at post #25?
Excerpted from: http://waysandmeans.house.gov/hearings.asp?formmode=printfriendly&id=4708
"To further increase the ease and convenience of verifying employee SSNs, SSA developed the Social Security Number Verification Service (SSNVS), which is an internet option that permits employers to quickly verify the accuracy of employees names and SSNs by matching the employee-provided information with SSAs records. SSA expanded this service to all employers in June 2005. We processed over 25.7 million verifications for over 12,000 employers in 2005. "
"The information the employer submits to DHS is sent to SSA to verify that the social security number and name submitted match information in SSA records. SSA will also confirm US citizenship, thereby confirming work authorization; DHS confirms current work authorization for all non-citizens. DHS will notify the employer of the employees current work authorization status. This program is also available to all employers, subject to available resources."
Dara,
They've already quit. And they've called and given a two day notice of taking the day off. According to our company policy I CANNOT fire them, unless we'd like to hand over our company to them, with the blessing of the court.
This is California. If there are any CA,NV,AZ,TX folks on here, I would have to say, they may understand this a little better. We are literally at the pointy end of the spear, and we live it every day.
Fear and intimidation are in the air and the California State Senate is walking out in sympathy...with the illegals. Meantime the US Senate is lurking in the shadows trying to run the clock out. Funny how they were just grandstanding on the Dubai deal, showing how "tough" they were on national security.
It's going to be a long hot summere folks.
And how is one to verify somebody with a stolen SS card who uses the stolen name as well?
Ursus,
Not so. All you are confirming is that the number, and name, matches the person sitting in front of you bearing an ID or drivers licence.
My suspicion is that the SSA Card is valid, but how they obtain them may not be valid. We're gambling that the SSA cross checks every I55I with the INS prior to issuing a SSA Card. I really have to wonder how good that cross check is, we are talking about Government Agencies here.
Me likey! :)
Also there's no requirement for you to approve the time off even if they requested it.
You can also let people go even if they give notice. "Thank you for your service, we are no longer in need of your service, here's your paycheck."
-Not that I'm telling you to do it any differently than you are doing it, and kudo's for calling the CHP - but sometimes people are afraid of terminating and at the end of the day, you're still the employer and do have at least in theory some rights - even in California. :)
My place of empoyment: If we're not there on Monday, we'll need a doctor's explaination.
