(CNN) -- A teenager who died at a Florida boot camp was suffocated by guards who were restraining him, a medical examiner has determined. The teen's mother hailed the findings, saying "the truth is out," but a lawyer for one of the guards accused the examiner of giving in to political pressure. Martin Lee Anderson, 14, died in January after he was restrained and struck by workers at the boot camp for juvenile offenders. No charges have been filed in connection with Anderson's death. Initial autopsy results in February had determined Anderson died from complications from sickle cell trait, which had not been previously diagnosed in the teenage athlete. Hillsborough County Chief Medical Examiner Vernard I. Adams conducted a second autopsy after Anderson's family, other medical experts and civil rights leaders balked at the conclusion of the first examination. "Martin Anderson's death was caused by suffocation due to actions of the guards at the boot camp," Adams wrote. "The suffocation was caused by manual occlusion of the mouth, in concert with forced inhalation of ammonia fumes that caused spasm of the vocal cords resulting in internal blockage of the upper airway."

They didn't like the results of the first autopsy so they had a second one performed.I bet they would have demanded a third autopsy if they didn't get what they were looking for from the second one.

Thanks for the ping. I see a couple comments suggesting the dead boy's family is running some kind of scam. It's just a coincidence that the guards happened to brutally beat him and force him to inhale ammonia immediately before he died unexpectedly from an undiagnosed natural cause. That explanation makes about as much sense as one I heard years ago when a man's body was found wrapped in a chain at the bottom of a river. The local sheriff, being the racist that he was, said "He stole the chain, and tried to swim across the river."
"Jeb Bush is on to it now, and I'm confident that he will cut through the BS and get to the bottom of this case."
I was confident that he would come to the aid of Terri Shiavo too....don't get your hopes up.

It evidently went something like this. They beat the boy senseless. When he didn't come around, they tried to revive him with smelling salts (ammonia). I'll guess that he was too far gone and that didn't work, so they held his mouth shut to make sure he got a blast of the ammonia. Now he can breathe nothing but poisonous ammonia fumes which irritate his throat and lungs. His reflex is to breathe harder (that's what smelling salts are for), but with his mouth "occluded," he gets only the poisonous fumes and little or no oxygen. He suffocates.
I'd still say they beat him to death. They beat him so badly that they couldn't revive him and (accidentally?) finished him off with the smelling salts.
How does that sound to medics?
Well, even the second autopsy says he wasn't beat to death, but I'm sure the beating put an additional need for air on Martin (I'm guessing you get excited and breathe hard when being beat) ..and therefore contributed to his death.
That's almost funny. The ME is being criticized for doing his job. Unfortunately, his findings corraborate the video tape. The cops don't like that, and are trying to discredit him. How typical. I thought I'd ping everyone to this, since we've been discussing this on the other thread.
There is another story in which a girl claims she was kidnapped and raped from a bus stop. She couldn't get back on school grounds to call for a ride. Now she's suing the school district. People have said that she's out trying to make a buck, and that in fact she wasn't assaulted. I'm answering that reply next ;-)
Crist is protecting the deputies who murdered Martin. Crist has had since January to at least start indictments and it is now May.
Somebody big is going down and imo, Jeb doesn't want this to be the biggest blunder of the State of Florida his last year in office.
We've come full circle since law enforcement and medical personnel and judges killed Terri. The same types killed Martin. Exactly the same.
Blame Charlie Crist. He's the malcontent whose staff insists they have no civil rights dept. I'm certain Florida sheriffs have donated to Charlie's campaign which is why it's taking so long to at least book the deputies just in case any of them are flight risks. If a complete fix is in, watch everybody walk. Florida is a dishonest state.
It's the same mentality, alright. This time they picked the wrong victim. I hate to turn the death of this young man political, but since government will not stand up for their citizens, so be it.
I don't think they can get out of this or cover it up, without raising the mother of all backlashes. African Americans suffer more incidents of abuse at the hands of authority than other races. If we're fed up and disgusted, imagine how they feel.
The State established a pattern of neglect and abuse and there is now 1. an innocent disabled woman who lost her life 2. an innocent black male teen who lost his life
If Martin's death exposes the corruption that defines Florida, I will be grateful.
