Why Should We Stop THE DA VINCI CODE?
MovieguideĀ® ^ | May 19, 2006 | Dr. Ted Baehr

War on Christianity has been declared. On which side of the battle line will you stand?

The movie version of Dan Brown's book, THE DA VINCI CODE, is now in theaters. Although the movie significantly waters down the unrelenting, anti-Christian attacks and virulent paganism and goddess worship of the novel, it promotes the book and contains enough falsehoods and scurrilous conjecture to distort the truth about Jesus Christ, the Bible, Christianity, and God. That, coupled with the book’s popularity and some Christians’ ignorance about their faith, leads us to believe that the movie, and the attention it draws, will increase people’s hatred and prejudice against Christians and Christianity.

If this sounds like an overreaction, consider this:

* THE DA VINCI CODE presents blasphemous fiction as fact in a deceptive fashion

* THE DA VINCI CODE book denies the divinity of Jesus Christ, claiming He was no more than a mortal prophet, and the movie says it doesn't matter whether Jesus was divine or not

* THE DA VINCI CODE alleges Jesus married Mary Magdalene with whom He had a child

* THE DA VINCI CODE falsely claims the Christian church has historically hidden these “facts” through deception, murder and conspiracy

THE DA VINCI CODE novel has already caused great harm. Over 45 million copies of Dan Brown’s book have been sold, and it’s been a staple on worldwide best-seller lists for two years and counting. Brown, however, doesn’t present it as an overt work of fiction. A simple statement in the prologue reads, “All descriptions of artwork, architecture, documents and secret rituals in this novel are accurate.”

Many Christians are already theologically malnourished; how will they withstand the assault of distortions, lies and bigotry from THE DA VINCI CODE?

We must combat THE DA VINCI CODE’s attack on Jesus, the Bible and the very integrity of the Christian faith.

On which side of the battle line will you stand?

What if we came up with a book like this?  How would the media respond, and would they give us a pass on the non-disclaimer.

THE

CLINTON

CODE

If you thought The DaVinci Code was shocking, you ain't heard nothing yet.  Everything the media taught you about the Clinton's is wrong.  The Clinton Code reveals that Bill did not rape Juanita Broaddrick, did not sexually harass Katherine Willey, and did not have improper relations with Paula Jones, Jennifer Flowers or even Monica Lewinski.  These were all a big cover up for Bill's real passion.....12-year old boys.

The Clinton Code takes you inside the secret society, the Sid Blums, a society dedicated to protecting the dark secrets of socialism and communism.  How the secret blood line of Marx, Lennin, and even Hitler all lead to a little girl named Hillary Rodham.  How the secret rituals of the Sid Blums concerning the shoes of Hillary Rodham lead to the firing of Dick Morris and to Dick's new role in infatuating the other side by giving bad advice and making predictions that never come true.  Also the book reveals the story behind the mysterious death of Vince Foster, and how the Clinton Body Count actually grossly underestimates the carnage left behind by the Clintons.

DISCLAIMER:  This book is not anti-anything. The Clinton Code is a novel and therefore a work of fiction. The artwork, architecture, documents, and secret rituals depicted in this novel all exist.  This disclaimer takes no stance about the theories discussed in this book.  This book serves only to open up discussion on these important topics.  In fact, I am a supporter of the Clintons.  If you ask what a Clinton supporter is, everyone will give you different answers.  To some to be a Clinton supporter, you must have voted for them.  To others, liking them is all it takes.  I prefer not to rigidly classify this personal concept, so to me being a Clinton supporter simply means to seek the truth out about these SOBs.

At least Dan Brown has publicly stated that 'The DaVinci Code' is a work of fiction. Ron Howard, OTOH, issues no disclaimer to that effect in the movie.

Trying to stop the Da Vinci Code through boycotts will only create publicity and help increase attendance.

Even liberal critics say this movie is a dog. Ignore it and it will die a slow death.

The more attention paid to this silly movie, the more important the movie becomes. The critics are already laughing at it.

Leave it alone and it will find itself in the bagain bin at the 99 cent store.

The good news is that we have the only weapon that can win a war like this on our side ... GOD.

I'm not unsympathetic to those who feel threatened or offended by The DaVinci Code.

However, Christianity has withstood much worse than this. Christianity will still be here long after this movie is forgotten.

Battle? Like most, not on either side. I'm on the side of entertainment.

BTW, many who are screaming loudly on this forum and others were all too quick to laugh at the Mohammed cartoons and even reproduce them in thread after thread.

Your just givin' 'em free publicity. By most accounts the movie is mediocre (like the book) - ignoring it might be the best solution.

Ignore it and it will die a slow death.

Well, it'd be a FASTER death than it will be with all this publicity.

In general, I agree. The box office take is much greater because of all this noise.

Why stop there. Lets ban "Rosemary's Baby", "Godspell", "Jesus Christ Superstar", "Bedazzled", "Die Walpurgsnacht", "The Four Horseman of the Apocaclypse" "Ben Hur", "The Robe" and ... on and on!

I can assure you that God gave us free will. Just who do you think you outrank?

I think the latest tomatometer rating is 18 - which is REALLY bad. Ignore it and it will die a quick death - be out on DVD in two months. Besides, IT'S FICTION. Something the bible thumpers seem unable to comprehend.

I will never understand why this book/movie bothers so many people. It's fiction and apparently not very good. It's starting to look like the Danish cartoon nonsense.

It takes extremely weak faith to be swayed by silliness like this book. No practicing Christian is going to give a hoot about it.

Besides, the movie is failure, so just let the whole thing die on its own.

Although what you say is important, the reviews will kill this film. The more counter protests that happen with this film the more buzz will be created and curiosity will take place. The film industry is on egg shells right now, Very few people are going out to see movies. Anything that generates buzz will help the film.

So how do we display our rejection of the film and that any producers that put their money toward this crap will loose their pants? Dont buy the DVD,when your friends talk about it , talk about it in boring terms.

Our money is power, if Christians actually focused their capitol and hired professional people to write, direct, and produce their own production company and produced entertainment ( Gaming, films, tv) Which I feel gaming is the new entertainment, then they will see that films that offend our values have no money in them.

Lets try not to recreate the stupid things some people did to promote the last temptation of Christ.
