Reagan was president of the United States of America from 1981 until 1989. He was the 40th person to serve as president. He died June 5, 2004 in Los Angeles. He was 93-years-old.

Reagan was the oldest person to serve as president. He was 69 when he took office. Reagan was elected to a four-year term in 1980. He defeated Jimmy Carter in that election. Carter was seeking a second term as president.

Reagan won re-election in 1984. He defeated Walter Mondale for a second term. Carter and Mondale were Democrats. Reagan was a Republican. He was elected governor of California in 1966 and 1970. He made us all chuckle when in presidential debates when questioned about the age of a president & responded he did NOT want to make the youth of his opponent an issue in the campaign.

Before entering politics, Reagan was a movie actor. He also served as president of the actors' union.

As the years passed, Reagan became more conservative. He switched from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party in 1962.

Reagan was often called "the Great Communicator." Even people who did not like Reagan agreed that he was good at giving speeches. The president also was said to have a good sense of humor.

Reagan said the nation needed to be ready to fight the Soviet Union and is considered influential in the break apart of the Union. The Soviet Union was a group of nations in Eastern Europe and Asia. Russia was the most powerful of the countries in the Soviet Union.

Reagan's health gradually grew worse in the last 10 years of his life.. He told the world in 1994 that he was suffering from Alzheimer's disease. Reagan’s wife, Nancy, spoke for him after his condition worsened. Reagan was not seen in public in recent years.

Nancy Reagan said in May of 2004 that Alzheimer's had taken her husband "to a distant place where I can no longer reach him." Reagan died of pneumonia. But the lung condition was a complication of Alzheimer's Disease.

Reagan was given a State funeral that was 10 years in the planning. Thousands filed past his coffin in California and in Washington, D.C. His funeral was attended by heads of State and former heads of State, including Margaret Thatcher, former Prime Minister of Great Britain.

Reagan was laid to rest in Simi Valley, California.

Some pretty good people have founded religions over the centuries. One religious leader spent a good portion of his life trying to find truth—an admirable quest.

Another religious leader was a teacher and a civil servant who drew up an honor code for his people—a respectable venture.

No matter how good any originators of world religions may have been, they cannot in any way compare with the founder of Christianity. The major reason is simply this: They are all in the category of “good men,” while Jesus is in a category by Himself—the God-man.

Jesus alone is Immanuel (God with us; Matthew 1:23), the Living Word (John 1:14), the Savior (Luke 2:11), and the Messiah (John 1:41). Only Jesus could truthfully assert His equality with His heavenly Father. “I and my Father are one,” He said (John 10:30). Only Jesus’ words are divine. His life was the only perfect one. Only Jesus’ death and resurrection provide life everlasting.

Jesus is unique in all the world. He alone is worthy of our worship, adoration, and awe. He alone is the perfect Man. The divine One. The provider of salvation. Don’t settle for anything—or anyone—less.

Early Ping again.. going to outdoor concert. Folks don't get dismayed if attendance is sparse on thread.. that means we are OUT & DOING THINGS! That is the way it should be. It is summer (well sort of) and things are busier in summer. We can all check in now & then to say hi & if in for night chat as time permits. When you visit, tell us what is going on so we can all have an update. This isn't IM where we all have to be there at same time anyway.. it is nice/fun now & then but will be the exception more than the rule.

I found over 500 dollars on the way to church today!!

Well, not in cash. Instead it was in the form of a Mcintosh MC-60 amplifier, that WILL be worth that much and probably more. It had been tossed out by someone who apparently had moved, along with several old tv's none of which were worth getting.

Now, it is here at the house. Soon, someone else, some collector will most likely be the owner. In return, I will acquire a laptop, late 50's color tv, or just plain old mullah. Of course, I will give God back his portion, as I ALWAYS Do, every Sunday. I am one of a few consistent tithers at my church as is my sister and mother.

It does go to show that you CANNOT outgive the Lord!!
