Laura Bush Raises Funds for Del. Valley GOP Candidates

While her husband was in Iraq, first lady Laura Bush was in the Philadelphia area for some political fundraisers.

Mrs. Bush's announcement that President Bush was in Iraq caught some of the crowd in Villanova by surprise.

"I don't know how many of you have your Blackberries on, but if you haven't heard, the president is in Iraq. Right now."

A gasp went through the crowd, then applause, as apparently this was news to many of the several hundred people gathered at the Appleford Estate in Villanova for a Rick Santorum fundraiser, featuring the first lady.

She praised Senator Santorum (at right in photo) for standing with President Bush on Iraq and taxes, but she returned to Mr. Bush's travels:

"I'm thrilled and I'm proud of my husband."

First lady Laura Bush to speak at Kean fundraiser

The Associated Press

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - First lady Laura Bush was to campaign Tuesday on behalf of Republican U.S. Senate candidate Tom Kean Jr. by appearing at a fundraiser aimed at bolstering his run against Democratic incumbent Robert Menendez.

President Bush's wife was to deliver a 10- to 15-minute speech to about 400 people in a 5 p.m. appearance at the law offices of longtime GOP fundraiser. Kean's campaign and the state Republican Party's NJ Victory 2006 Committee are to share the proceeds.

Kean, 37, the son of former Gov. Tom Kean, is vying to become the first Republican elected to the U.S. Senate from New Jersey in more than 30 years. He trails Menendez in fundraising.

Federal Election Commission records show that Kean had raised $2.97 million as of May 17 and had $1.84 million cash on hand. Menendez had raised $7.16 million and had $6.3 million cash on hand, his filings show.

"Mrs. Bush is pleased to support senatorial candidate Tom Kean," spokeswoman Tarah Donoghue said. "Mrs. Bush is committed to maintaining a (Republican) majority in the U.S. House and Senate."

FOFLOL. I wish I could take credit for this "nick" but unfortunately not. A friend sent me an email this morning about the President's surprise trip to Baghdad and referred to our President as "Chief Two Stones". Sooooo, in honor of Chief Two Stones, here is one more photo of the Prez and the Prime Minister enjoying a little walk outside the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad earlier today. BTW, our embassy there used to be one of Saddam's palaces, making the talks and walk about all the sweeter. LOL

Oh, FGS ! Patrick Kennedy was allowed to cut a deal. He pleads guilty to driving under the influence of prescription drugs... PLEASE. More like, DWK (Driving While Kennedy) Is that gene pool diluted to what ? That goofy RFKjr was all over the place last week claiming that Republicans stole 2004 election by 340,000 votes. Hopefully, their offsprings won't be able to reproduce.

"Just think how lovely it will be when your "dingbat" withdrawal is finally over and you can enjoy life again."

The past two days have been like being in suspended animation. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. My new supervisor came into my office today and asked me how I'd feel about going ahead and starting an investigation on a report that had just come in (I have a choice?). She'd even pulled the report and gotten a file ready for me. I'm used to having to do all that myself. It could take me awhile to adjust to a real supervisor. The past 8 months I have been dependent on my old (pre-dingbat) supervisor. I even had to call her this morning and ask her to do the transfer of the remainder of my cases to the workers who were taking them because dumb@ss hasn't a clue how to do it.

And space. OMG! I'm not used to having so much space to work with. The old offices were so crammed there wasn't room to move hardly. I have an entire office to myself, corner office, no less, all these bare walls that I can use for whatever I want and a virgin computer! Life is good!

OMG. How sad is this ? Remember when he used to be one of the most handsome things on 2 feet ? Sheesh, we've all aged but he has done it so badly. But, then, he is a major lib and that is clearly damaging.

He spoke at a lib conference on energy in DC yesterday. Harry Reid spoke at the same conference and referred to approaching storm " Alberto" as Tropical Storm Alfredo.

Redford To Democrats: Show More Courage

WASHINGTON (June 12, 2006) -- The Sundance Kid gathered up the nerve to jump off a cliff with Butch Cassidy. Now, he wants Democrats to show similar backbone.

"Democrats need to regain the courage that's lost with political compromises over the last few years," actor and environmental activist Robert Redford said Monday in an interview with The Associated Press. "They've got to get it together. If they don't, it will not only be a tragedy for them, but a tragedy for the country."

The Oscar-winning director was in Washington to discuss energy policy with the liberal group Campaign for America's Future and to present an award to Leo Gerard, president of the United Steelworkers, for his work on energy independence.

Redford addressed the group after Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid of Nevada made a pitch for using less gasoline and taking global warming seriously. On energy, the actor said the first step is to acknowledge there is a crisis.

"It's hitting a tipping point, but so are the opportunities for solutions," Redford told the group.

Redford said efforts to talk with the Bush administration about energy policy is a waste of time. "Things will really improve when they're out of there, so the next elections are going to be very important," Redford said.

I think face nip and tuck during middle age makes these people look downright odd when they reach maturity. Paul McCartney is case and point.

Sure is a lot of good news the last week or so. If JF'ingK had his way, we would have pulled out May 15th (he has since revised his plan to end of 2006), Zak would still be running wild.

Do you ever listen to Laura Ingraham? She had hilarious clips of Tom Daschel... including him referring to himself as a "leaf peeper". Good stuff!

No, I don't listen to her. I'm not so sure any local stations carry hee down this way.

All of that dem bunch are crazy as loons. It looks like the big bad story about Haditha is beginning to unravel. I can't believe the press, as lame as they are, pinned any credibility on that fool Murtha. Now that the harsh national spotlight is on him he is being to look like the niutcase he really is.
