In re "ENERGY:"

I first saw big-time soccer when I worked in Italy.

Noioso (boring). The Eyeties had developed this elaborate ballet style of play which consisted of long periods of defensive half-speed shuffling about interrupted by 1.72 nano-seconds in which (hopefully) they (or some other foreigner in really bad shorts) scored a goal. "Some sport," says I. Writing off the great game as some sort of decadent Euro-Aberration, which rewarded histrionics rather than athletic ability.

But then, I saw the Argentines play, and some great English teams ... whole 'nuther deal! So today, I hope the Americans kick it up a notch and out-energize the Italians ... hustle'em right off the field!

I sure miss Andres Cantor (he went to Telemundo, which I don't get). If I could get him calling a game in Hi-Def I'd fork over PPV $$$.

The over and under in a NFL game is around 48 points while the over and under in a World Cup game is 2.

The U.S. was embarrassed in that game.

Not sure, but some are saying he plays for an Israeli club. That might have something to do with it.

Pretty sure there will be follow up stories.

Excited? Shoot the whole soccer world is excited.
Except for the Czechs and if you bet on them like my best friend did.
Oh is he crying. He hung up on me.

Now he's forcing me to bet on US to try to get back. Even though I've been an Italy supporter for years and said I wanted no part of the game.

He's a crybaby.

The odds paid 3.65 to 1 for a Ghana victory. :)

That is why it is so critical to not give up early goals.

The Czechs got an early goal against the US, then gave up an early goal against Ghana. It changes the whole dynamics of the game. The US just missed equalizing the match, just before the Czechs went up 2-0. One bounce, one glance off the wood work makes all the difference.

You can't limp through the group stage anymore. 3 draws doesn't get you through like it did once they went to a 3 point win system.

Haha yea thank you. :)

Let me go out on a limb since it's the World Cup...

Halftime US 1 Italy 1
Fulltime US 2 Italy 1

The Italians always play a low scoring game even in their Italian League, they RARELY score 3 or more goals, any of them. If we can get 1 or 2 goals and shut them down we could take it!

They should take the top three teams in each group and just give the first placers a bye. I don't think the fans would complain about an extra week of games.

But still you can´t compare it. It´s impossible to score more than 100 in a NFL game, but you can reach a 7:0 or a 9:1. The US could do better, and they´ve shown that they´re better than that. You were in the quarter finals last time.

Better then than during the match. What they should do is what other countries do: put little pop-up ads in the margins during the game.

On the Internet, they're a major annoyance. On a soccer broadcast, they're easily ignored/tolerated.
