We're already on the same page. I'm not in the bidness of condemnation.

Hemmingway's first sentence of "The Old Man and the Sea" is considered the classic example of the opening hook. "He was an old Cuban fisherman who fished the waters of ... and he hadn't caught a fish in a month."

Darwinian evolution and creationism are not mutually exclusive. Both have their place in the existential existence I call my own life. One promotes scientific discovery and advancement while the other nourishes the soul.

"He was an old Cuban fisherman who fished the waters of ... and he hadn't caught a fish in a month." You're right, the opening passage of book has to be a good line. If its poor, it could sink 'er.

Discounting Ann's take because she's a lawyer is fine; however a fortiori one must then apply the same standard to Judge Jones, who not only claimed expertise over science, religion and the philosophy of both, but decided his claims should have the force of law.
That the writer of this thread uses Whittaker Chambers to attack Ann is somewhat odd. The broad point of Chambers in Witness was exactly the same as the one Ann is making-- that totalitarian leftism is founded upon the vision of man replacing God.

The Creationists requested that the judge make such a ruling before the trial started. On the other hand, the judge did use data as opposed to Ann who ignores it. Applying the standards equally illustrates Ann's lack of scholarship.
