A View to a TV Kill: Jones vs. Walters
NY Post ^ | 7/3/06 | Editorials

Posted on 07/03/2006 7:06:10 AM PDT by Liz

THE ISSUE: Controversy surrounding Star Jones Reynolds' departure from "The View." ("I'm No Claws Celebre," June 30).

****......imagine if Rosie O'Donnell were a heterosexual political conservative (taking Star's place). We would have to struggle through an editorial in The New York Times entitled, "What Part Does Racism Play in the Ouster of Star Jones?" Glastonbury, Conn.

**** It's time to begin ignoring these overpaid, overindulged and over-the-top nobodies. Cedarhurst

**** O'Donnell's preoccupation with Jones Reynolds' coming clean on how she "lost weight" was like Dan Rather asking President Nixon "what did you know and when did you know it?" But The View's version would have been, "Hey Nixon, do I look fat in this?"..... Manhattan

**** The entire world could have guessed she was going to be fired.....Walters expected Jones Reynolds to go quietly and cooperate with the charade so as not to put the show in a bad light.....and not trying to protect Jones Reynolds, as she claims, she just wanted to serve her own interests. Brooklyn

They should hire Ann Coulter. That would be interesting. But alas, they can't afford Ann Coulter.

I reiterate: What does "Star" spell backwards.

She is self-centered meathead who only cares if she can cover her bill at Bloomies.

Her former colleagues on "The View" are no better.

Barbara Walters is an annoying whiner, and Joy Behar sucks the air out of every room she enters - to no good end.

Putzes.

Barbara Walters has done herself much damage with this mess. Once thought of as a semi-serious journalist, she's nothing now but a mother hen mediating between cackling chicks. The only remotely interesting and honest aspect of this imbroglio are Rosie's comments, when she rightly accused Star Jones of trading on her personal life (losing a ton of weight) but being less-than-truthful about how she did it.

Star Jones should approach BET and pitch her own talk show. That would be the smart career move.

It was thinking the same thing! The View already has a loudmouthed East Coast liberal in Behar. What do they need Rosie for? Why not a loudmouthed East Coast conservative? I wasn't happy with the Joisey Girl comments in Coulter's book, but she would be the perfect antidote to these dames!

BaBa WaWa became annoying about seven minutes after her network debut.

Thank heaven I have not watched MSM network news in a decade.

Bwawa is The View's creator and one of the producers----what she says goes----too bad Star did not remember that salient fact.

I hear they considered Patricia Heaton---but decided against her. A pro-lifer would have been a good addition to these "body rights-obsessed radical women."

Wow - Jones or Walters??

Walters or Jones?

Jones or O'Donnell??

In the overall scheme of life, who really cares?? I choose OFF, and an hour of peace and quiet.

DARN! Patricia Heaton would have been great! Didn't Rosie replace Viera? So there's still Jone's open spot. If Heaton were on, I might actually watch the show!

LOL----OFF-----yeah, that'll do it.

It's a career killer that Star will have on her media resume that she KO'ed an ABC show. Let her take that to the networks. She committed a Big Media No-No---whining and ranting to other networks. Suzanne Somers did the same after she was fired then couldn't get a TV job for 10 years.

Star could always get a gig hawking cubic zirconium on the Home Shopping Network. Or maybe she could get a job as a wedding planner? LOL.

It makes me laugh when I think of the recriminations at home with Al--- "I told you not to extort all that wedding stuff, Star. Now you're finished, so what's a 30 year-old stud like me supposed to do with a 40 year-old flop like you."

Man, I betcha every gossip columnist in NYC has a runner tracking Al Reynolds' whereabouts. Guaranteed front page every NYC paper if he's seen with some slim young thing...........LOL.

If Star Jones would have stayed fat they would not have dumped her. She was a WOMAN, FAT and BLACK. Once se lost the fat part a FAT WOMAN LESBO is the only thing that could have replaced her. So, licket-D-split, she's gone!

I hear they asked Behar to gain a few pounds to regain the Fat Factor demographic.

I never watched the View and don't intend to start, but my informal attention to the PR about recruiting Rosie was that ABC was hyping conflict between Star and Rosie. It seems like false advertising now that those conflicts will never take place (on the air at least)...

The buzz is that Bwabwa and ABC decided to ditch Star last Nov---and recruited Rosie for the seat.

Rosie started in on Star---presumably when Bwabwa gave the signal.

Star is a bit slow and never "got it" that Rosie was her replacement.

Star now says she was notified only in April that she was being dumped.

She's to host GMA, so Meredith's seat has yet to be filled.
