German police use rape pretext to collect DNA from 100,000 men

There has been an increasing trend towards building DNA databases all over the world. In America there are many states that take your DNA for a misdemeanor crime and also during a traffic stop. There have been DNA dragnets all across America. You are pulled over by a police officer for running a red light and he tells you to swab the inside of you’re mouth. Any authority figure will normally get what he wants if he applies a little pressure. We were taught to obey our authorities from grade school so it is embedded in our psyche.

A basic traffic stop these days will entail you getting you’re rights violated. Illegal search and seizures. The cop asks, "What do you have to hide?" You really don’t have anything to hide and you agree with his request. In the past that was the worse thing most citizens had to deal with and now they want a DNA sample. Are you kidding me? Why not get a Breathalyzer, blood and DNA sample. The full monty. This country gone down this road of abusing it’s people but the question is how far will it go?

Police in Germany yesterday began to collect DNA samples from up to 100,000 men in a bid to catch a rapist who targets pre-teen girls.

The progressive laboratory tests of men living in and near the German city of Dresden could become one of the world’s biggest DNA dragnets.

Police obtained the offender’s "genetic fingerprint" after he raped girls aged 9 and 11.

Police and commercial laboratories are to compare that DNA with 6,000 saliva samples per month until police find a match.

The first group of 3,108 men aged between 25 and 45 who were living near the scene of the rapes last September and January, began giving samples yesterday.

Another group of 3,129 men were told to report to police stations next week to provide samples.

DNA analysis is reliable because there is only a one-in-500 million chance that two men will have exactly the same genetic signature.

Police however admitted the method would be fruitless if the offender was from out of town.

In an earlier case, German police tested 18,000 men till they caught a man who had murdered a child.

I like how you can be pulled over for an expired registration and then made to submit to a breathalyzer, among other tests. /sarc

I'm sure they will be implementing this in California ASAP, followed by other left wing states, then eventually the entire nation.

/sarcasm on

No worries though. If you've done nothing wrong then you have nothing to hide.

I'm curious as to where in this country the things mentioned above are occurring.

I fail to see any significant difference between DNA testing, if used for identification purposes only, and fingerprinting, which has been accepted for over a century, I believe, without the country collapsing into fascism.

I agree with Restorer on the point of DNA samples being used for identification purposes.

I do though - raise the bet to punishing those found guilty of raping children to levels so hard that it truly scares those who might take up this vile crime into abandoning the idea. --------- (hint - castration should be carried out on many of these men)

Most of the bad things that a few of our citizens do to the rest of us could easily be suppressed to tolerable levels with the use of stiff punishment.

We're just way too soft on criminals.
