Woman Dies During Liposuction at Home

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- A man was arrested on charges of practicing medicine without a license after a woman died during a liposuction procedure performed in the basement of a home, authorities said Monday.
Luis Carlos Ribeiro, a native of Brazil, was to be arraigned in district court on Monday following the death of a 23-year-old woman Sunday.
The Middlesex District Attorney's Office would not release the identity of the woman who died. An autopsy was scheduled.
Police also charged Ribeiro with drug possession. A spokeswoman for the district attorney's office said she did not know what type of drugs.

I just heard from a good friend. The dead young woman (only 23) was very close to his family, working for them for a number of years. I don't know all the details of her death, only that the families (hers and his) are in shock and obviously overwrought with grief. Obviously this whole matter is so tragic, being so avoidable and senseless.
