Arrest in JonBenet Ramsey Case Expected "Shortly"
8.16.06 | Michael King

Posted on 08/16/2006 1:17:08 PM PDT by mhking

An arrest in the JonBenet Ramsey case is due to happen "shortly," according to sources in our newsroom -- I know I can't post the link to our site (we're a Gannett station, and despite the "ban", I would welcome the traffic), but most of you know where I work and what the site is...

According to our sister station in Denver, an arrest took place early this morning in Thailand.

Stand by for details and updates as they come in.

I think that John and Patsy thought their son did it initially and tried to make it look like a stranger killing to protect him. I never thought they did it.

The media will suffer for wrongly accusing them. That's a good thing.

RIP Patsy.

"Well it cannot be Ms. Ramsey."

Nah it twert Patsy, I believe it was Elian Gonzalez, that was why Janet El Reno deported him.

He's on vacation before he heads back to school. C'mon, his mom is a FReeper and I didn't raise a pedophile! Anyway, where did the idea that Thailand is full of pedophiles come from? Never heard that before. The US seems to me to be the mecca for pedohiles. Honestly, I'd hate to be raising young girls these days....very scary out there for them.

"All of the attention on the parents may have impeded the investigation. (per Greta)"

that would have been avoided if the parents took LDT's and let Burke get interviewed alone....

Marc Klaus had it right....give everything to the police and then they can move on.....

until the parents were fully dismissed as suspects, the cops can not move on....as in the Westerfield case.....parents had to go thru the gauntlet so to speak for the cops to look in other directions.....

Actually, I'm thinking someone went to the party with them and talked long and hard to get the information needed to kill their daughter.

Maybe they knew him.

There are a lot of people who could have known what the amount of the bonus check was, including the teller at the bank that registered the deposit.

I hope my suspicions are wrong and that Patsy didn't withhold important information about the identity of the killer....not wanting it to be known until after she died.

I think that even POLICE assume it is a family member unless it is proven otherwise..

Family members always are the first ones to become suspected because they're closer in relationship to the victim.

Well, I also got sensitive because people assumed they be guilty because of things like them talking to a lawyer (or having a big house, not setting their alarm, pageants). These were several things I could see doing (married to a lawyer-- it's ingrained in me not to talk to police without a lawyer present, I always forget to set our alarm, we have a large home).

I'm just glad to see that the animal has been caught-- how many more has he victimized for the past 10 years? The police are right to first look to the family, but they CANNOT close the door off to other options, and I think some of the law enforcement in this case wanted to do it in order to preserve Boulder's pristine reputation.
