My kinda cat!
They can't enjoy their property because of a huge number of free roaming cats. This is hardly just 'nosy neighboring'.
Right you are!
I'll be able to give you a first hand report on that next month. :-D <-------big smile
From Article:
Homeowner Kristi Grant has been taking care of the cats at her home -- which is surrounded by a high fence.
Article makes no mention of cats escaping the property. What she does on her own property should be her business. Unless the cats not being taken care of or are causing a stench or something that directly affects the neighboring properties, it's none of their business, as far as I'm concerned.
Yes, it does!
However, neighbors have complained that the animals are attacking squirrels and killing birds.
If the cats never left her property, no one would have them in their bird and squirrel feeders... and if she's got a fence that keeps 168 cats in, she'd be the first.
This woman may mean well and may have started out well, but she has lost control of the situation, and lost control of her cats. They've become a nuisance to her neighbors who want to have bird and squirrel feeders, so the property rights issue you championed as the only just basis for objection has in fact been met. I sympathize with her, but she probably needs mental help. I've seen plenty of these types of calls on Animal Planet to guess what the condition of her cats and her home looks like.
When I hear of women hording cats, this image always comes to mind:
The Crazy Cat Lady from "The Simpson's."
BEEEEAUTIFUL CAT!!!!
"Hey ........ you can bite through Hillary's empty skull, easy ....... but try to bite through those humongous skankles!
Beautiful kitties!!!
Doesn't say where the squirrels and birds are... They could be on the woman's property. Also makes no mention of how large her property is, so the assumption that just because she has a lot of cats, they are escaping the property is just that - an assumption.
I'm just saying that based on the facts given in the article, I would say the lady has a problem, but the article indicates nowhere that it truly affects anyone else.
Of course I also think it's ridiculous that people care if a cat gets on their property but don't care if a deer, squirrel, bird, bunny, whatever else gets on their property.
Yes, and you could be called 'deliberately obtuse' to assume your read on the facts. :~)
no, it's a Russian Blue.
The two breeds are commonly confused, as they look similar to the untrained eye.
172 cats is more than a ~couple~ of cats by ~any~ measure no matter what 'liberal land' you've been in too long. :~)
I would not let one of my cats put *that* in its mouth. In fact, I think it borders on cruelty to animals.
Very good post.
This lady lives on 10 acres, has a clean house and yard, and a six foot fence surrounding her property.
The neighbors should mind their own damn business.
Freepmail to you.
Congratulations! My best to your furbabies, and stay safe!
