COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio State Buckeyes are now part of a complete breakfast.
Buckeye Heroes, the newest university-licensed food, will be available in grocery stores before No. 1 Ohio State opens its season Saturday against Northern Illinois at Ohio Stadium.
The box of honey-nut-flavored toasted oats features three mascots -- former Buckeyes linebackers and current NFL rookies A.J. Hawk, Bobby Carpenter, and Anthony Schlegel.
"We couldn't make them 'block Os,' so we made them Os," said Rick Van Brimmer, director of trademark and licensing services at Ohio State.
The cereal will cost $3.49 for a 14-ounce box at Kroger stores, which will have it stocked as early as Thursday, said Monica Gordon, spokeswoman for the Cincinnati-based grocery chain's Great Lakes division.
The cereal joins other Ohio State foods such as pasta, chips, salsa, hot dogs, mustard and hot sauces, as well as candy Buckeyes.

Is it guaranteed to help kids grow up just like Maurice Clarett?
LOL
somehow I doubt it....
LOL

In other words... they took a box of Honey Nut Cheerios and stuck them in an OSU box? ;-)
More or less....
they did cornflakes for us when I was in High School....
We would prefer they grew up to be like Archie Griffin.
With a few good bounces going our way this year hopefully this years team will be good enough to cause a few people to forget about the thug that was at tailback in '02.
I am not trying to start an argument - just want to ask a question:
Why does OSU get to keep the National Championship they won with Clarett? My understanding is that he played illegally, received benefits, etc?
Elementary, my dear Watson. They beat the University of Miami, FL!
CNA (Concerned 'Noles for America)
That's not correct.
His legal and playing issues all started the spring of the following year when he claimed all kinds of property were stolen from a rental car he was using.
Believe me the NCAA went over OSU with a fine tooth comb as far as Clarett and his one and only freshman season. And we were cleared.
The only issue that arose from his freshman season was his claim that he and other players were improperly tutored which the NCAA later did not find evidence to substantiate the claim.
That following spring when things went down hill for him he never played again for OSU and for that matter anywhere else.
It really is a shame because the kid could have made a fine career for himself. Two plays I'll always remember was the early Washington State game that season when he bounced a run outside for 40+ yds and it was evident he had talent and in the championship game when Krenzel threw the int. in Miami's end zone and Clarett ran down the play and stole the ball back right out of the Miami defender arms.
But OSU will for now continue to get jokes laid on us because he really was nothing more than an immature punk who threw it all away.
Thanks - I was always curious about this.
As a correction. He did play a little the following season but due to injuries, the legal issues and the controversies by November he was history.
