Macy's Spokesperson: Susan Sarandon??? (Vanity)
09/14/06 | Self

Posted on 09/15/2006 6:39:40 PM PDT by Inspectorette

First vanity post - did a search on "Sarandon" and didn't see anything on this.

Mr. Inspectorette and I were astonished to see Susan Sarandon in a new Macy's commercial on our local Portland station.

If it's not her, she's got an identical twin. Has anyone else seen this?

It is her. Stupid idea on their part because she turns off so many people.

It looked like her to me. Apparently Macy's isn't interested in my business.

Yeah, she's been oozing her uninvited way out of my TV screen too.

Macy's just took over Robinson-May in California, and Meier and Frank in the Northwest.

They sent us a store card to replace our Robinson-May card, and we WERE planning to use it, but not now.

I'm going to their website and if there's a "Contact Us" link, I'm going to let them know they've lost a customer.

Yeah, we saw it last night. Maybe they'll get Glovered over it.

I went to the Macy's website and e-mailed them:

"I was very unhappy to see your choice of a spokesperson in your new commercials.

Susan Sarandon and her radical left-wing political leanings are very offputting to a great number of people.

She is a typical Hollywood know-nothing who considers herself an authority on U.S. foreign policy.

While she is free to express her ignorant opinions (thanks to the freedoms we have in this great country that she loves to criticize), we are also free to not support entities that promote her.

My husband and I were very happy Robinson-May customers for many years, and we were recently mailed a Macy's card as a replacement. We will not be using it.

Good idea. My husband I will send them back the cards we have as well ...with a note explaining the reasons.

eleni, I had posted this in "Miscellaneous", because I wasn't sure if it was considered "News". Do you know if it can be moved into another category, so it will get more hits?

(I'm not real practiced in posting.)

If you saw the same commercial I saw tonight in Baltimore, you saw "Susan Sarandon- actress, philanthropist."

A philanthropist shouldn't be politically motivated. But that's just me and common sense.

Macy's also took over the Burdine chain in Florida and the Marshall Field chain in Illinois.

Saranwrap being a Macy spokesmanette has no effect on me because its merchandise and clerk staff leave me cold.

I agree - this topic should be widely distributed.

I'm not sure how to tranfer it either...but I have used the report abuse button to contact a moderator to transfer a thread. Or try this:
