  • NOT 'GLEE'-FUL! Fox Show Disinvited From Macy Thanksgiving Parade By NBC (The war on Fox)

Those morons at Jeff Zucker's company have stepped in it yet again. It's bad enough NBC can't get anyone to watch its piss-poor network primetime shows, but now NBC is making sure the American public can't watch other networks' shows as well. (This follows an earlier report that NBC doesn't want the Jay Leno Show to book rival networks' TV stars.) The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is known for annually including "cultural touchstones of the moment" in its broadcast, from every American Idol winner since the 2nd season (a Fox show) to the stars of High School Musical (a Disney...

Is it Carly's or Macy's? Have you seen the new Carly Fiorina mini flier? As CA GOP vice chair -- and host of the FlashReport conservative blog -- Jon Fleischman quipped to us: "It looks like a Macy's ad." Hey, we've heard of retail politics, Carly, but this is taking it to a new level. Here's the flier for C-rina's exploratory Senate campaign: Carly's rival Chuck DeVore just dropped an online ad goofing on her Carlyfornia signs, which we noted the other day...

Last week we SAW how the DUmmies were getting all excited about a remote control device that could shut off TV sets that were running Fox News. But what happens when the DUmmie leaves the room? Most likely the TV will revert to Fox News since it is by far the most popular cable news channel out there. Therefore, the DUmmies have to work even harder to keep folks from watching Fox News. One way is what a certain DUmmie did as chronicled in his THREAD, "I just complained to a Macy's manager about having Fox News on their...

NEW YORK (AP) -- Macy's Inc. reported an almost 59 percent drop in fourth-quarter earnings Tuesday as its results were dragged down by weak sales and one-time costs associated with the consolidations of regional divisions and store closings. The Cincinnati-based company said Tuesday that in the three months ended Jan. 31, it earned $310 million, or 73 cents per share. That compares with $750 million, or $1.73 per share, a year earlier. Sales fell 7.7 percent to $7.93 billion from $8.59 billion a year ago. Same-store sales, or sales at stores opened at least a year, fell 7 percent. Same-store...

The company's cost-cutting measures include restructuring its retail divisions and reducing planned expenses. Macy's Inc. operates more than 840 department stores -- under Macy's and Bloomingdale's -- across the nation, with corporate offices located in New York and Cincinnati.

NEW YORK - As the giant Snoopy and Big Bird balloons began to inflate Wednesday, forecasts for powerful wind gusts threatened to keep them grounded during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade instead of floating through the corridors of Manhattan. City guidelines, established after a woman was seriously injured by a wayward balloon in 1997, call for the event's trademark inflatable characters to be grounded if winds reach 23 mph and gusts exceed 34 mph. THIS year's Thanksgiving Day Parade brought us another "Miracle on 34th Street." Tethers from the "M&M's Chocolate Candies" balloon became entangled with a lamppost along the parade route — causing a 30-pound light to strike two sisters from Albany, Sarah Chamberlain, 11, and Mary, 26. Sarah required nine stitches to close a head wound. Mary, who uses a wheelchair, got a bump on the head. The California-based Committee to Save Merry Christmas wants consumers to avoid shops such as Macy's because they avoid any association with Jesus. FINDING the perfect gift has long been a national pastime. But the celebration of Christmas, and the culture of gift giving that accompanies the holiday, have changed significantly in America over the years. Economic and social pressures have transformed how, and with whom, we celebrate Christmas, altering it from a holiday that was at times illegal, or limited to adult parties, or a gift-giving child-centered extravaganza like today's. There are several popular misconceptions about the origins of the American version of the holiday. To start, Christmas was actually suppressed in New England's colonial days. I got the Macy's sales flyer yesterday. The headline read "Last Weekend to Shop Before the Big Day." No where did Macy's specify what the "Big Day" was. Macy's is willing to use the celebration of Christ's birth to increase profits, but certainly won't use the actual name of the holiday in its advertising campaigns. Disgusting and despicable. Boycott this godless, money-grubbing company.

Macys Nixing Merry Christmas? The store made internationally famous by the Christmas classic "Miracle on 34th Street" is reportedly phasing out any direct mention of the holiday in this year's seasonal promotions. "Instead of Merry Christmas the message appearing in ads and store displays is 'Season's Greetings' or 'Happy Holidays,'" reports WABC Radio newsman George Weber.

Saturday after Thanksgiving is the traditional day to purchase stamps for my annual Christmas card mailing... [snip] So, shortly before noon on that most recent post-turkey day, I sauntered into a neighborhood "U.S. Postal Store," [snip] and headed for the stamps-only section. I quickly found a packed wall of display racks offering a panoply of first-class postage devoted to the various elements of the year-end holiday season, specifically: 1) Christmas, featuring colorful, contemporary designs of Santa Claus with an array of inanimate, secular Yule symbols; 2) Kwanzaa, with not just one but two stamps promoting a totally fabricated "harvest holiday"...

TARGET THE GRINCH:And the beat goes on... According to this morning's USA Today, Target Inc.  is sticking to its plan to kick the Salvation Army to the curb throughout this holiday season. For those of you late to this story, Target stores had long allowed the Salvation Army to be the only charity that raised funds outside their stores using their famous red kettles and the cheerful sound of Christmas Bells. This year the good will from the red bulls-eye came to an end.  According to the USA Today the impact will leave the Salvation Army short about 9 million dollars...

One of the best things about living in America is if you have a sufficient amount of money, you can buy just about anything on the planet legally. You might have to make some phone calls and wait for a while, but eventually you can purchase anything you want. But as anyone who has ever picked the name of the person who wants ''nothing special,'' in the office gift exchange, or has the child who does NOT want the ''Super Plus Dragon Head Crushing Mega-Poke-Zord-o-Saur'' can tell you, some of the hardest things to find are the simplest Such was...

HOLIDAY BLUES Christmastime event is no-Christian zone Santa, 'holy homosexuals' OK for parade, but no floats with direct religious themes -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted: December 2, 2004 1:00 a.m. Eastern By Joe Kovacs © 2004 WorldNetDaily.com In the latest skirmish over Christmas in America, a Christian group is not allowed to participate in Denver's annual Parade of Lights, because church members sought to sing yuletide hymns and proclaim a "Merry Christmas" message on their float. However, the event, now in its 30th year, will include homosexual American Indians, Kung Fu artisans, belly dancers and, of course, Santa Claus. "I think there's an...

This is the response I recieved from Federated after I informed them that I will no longer be shopping in thier stores, in response to an earlier post that 'Macy's stores boycotted for replacing 'Christmas' Dear Mrs. Florez: Thank you for your comments. Let me assure you that Federated Department Stores does, indeed, recognize and celebrate Christmas in everything from Christmas decorations and music to Christmas merchandise and trim-a-tree shops in our stores. • Is it just me, or is the Macy's parade god-awful this year?

Just curious if anyone noticed how bad it is. I don't know, maybe it's just the fact that on NBC more time is spent watching Katie Couric and Matt "Doesn't Know He's Bald" Laurer yapping their egotistical heads off than is actually spent on the cameras watching the parade. Any thoughts?
