"One of the earliest delights was a poem from NicknamedBob, which began,"

This one? http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1264762/posts?page=239#239

John Kerry, Lost?

John Kerry, lost? His noble brow,
Perchance revert to wrinkles now?
The valiant warrior strode the world,
Retreating now, his banner furled.

To face the wrath, withheld til now,
Of bitter phrase from stifled frau.
To pace the hall with echo dread,
While might-have-beens sift through his head.

To see his minions, tears bedecked,
And watch his ship of state be wrecked.
To tally promises he has made,
And worry how they might be paid.

To look into the mirrored eye,
And sadly to inquire why?
What was the key that slipped away,
Or what the coin of devil pay?

“I’ve sold my soul to buy this prize,
That withers now before my eyes,
That slips now from my straining grasp,
Which once I held in firmest clasp.”

His turning mind brings forth a name,
The source from which the troubles came.
“In vanquished mourning I confess,
I am John Kerry, and I approve this mess.”

This one's from today ...

Carry Is Back To His Old Time Religion

Carry is back to his old time religion,
Stuck in the Sixties of long, long ago.
Back when the draft was a good sermon subject,
And kids stayed in college avoiding the show.

Carry remembers the old plantations,
The singing and dancing, and fiery delights,
With draft cards and bras sending smoke to the heavens,
And sexual freedom to warm up the nights.

CHORUS

Carry is back to his old time religion,
Back in the Sixties of so long ago,
Back when a college kid had no confusion,
Geography was the last thing he wanted to know!

Carry’s gone back to the old time religion,
Back to the campus protecting him so,
He once took a test with an oral performance,
He passed citing history he didn’t know!

(Jon Carry’s Alma Mater Flight Song)

Final results will not be known until 2007.

You're exactly right. The RATS already have thousands of lawyers ready to head to the polls, in all states. That said, I bet they didn't send any to NM because they already know we've got over 30K illegal aliens with driver's licenses, which enabled them to register to vote. Then they were able to vote by absentee ballot so they never even had to go to the court house. We can thank our RAT governor Bill Richardson. Remember that name when he 'throws his hat into the ring' to run for President in 08. He wants as many illegals as he can get, because he knows they will vote for him.

Popcorn, knitting, and a song fest!

Swing Low, Sweet Carry Yucks

Swing Low, Sweet Carry Yucks,
Comfort me with chuckles so fine,
A low kind of humor that has me in mind,
Comfort me and keep me in line.

I listen to newscasts, and what do I hear?
Comfort me with chuckles so fine,
Religion of Peace gives me nothin’ to fear,
Comfort me with chuckles so fine.

If you can’t cut it, well just go enlist,
Comfort me with chuckles so fine,
A brain like yours ain’t gonna be missed,
Comfort me with chuckles so fine.

I know my leaders will take care of me,
Comfort me with chuckles so fine,
Jus’ like those soldiers they sent oversea,
Comfort me with chuckles so fine.

There’ll come a day when I won’t be blind,
Comfort me with chuckles so fine,
And then I’ll know which ones have been lyin’
Comfort me with chuckles so fine.

Swing Low, Sweet Carry Yucks,
Comfort me with chuckles so fine,
That low-brow humor just right for my mind,
Comfort me and keep me in line.

a worthy quote I ran across today:

"Bad officials are elected by good citizens who do not vote."

We are also quoting G. K. Chesterton.

"The person who is really in revolt is the optimist, who generally lives and dies in a desperate and suicidal effort to persuade other people how good they are."

The average man votes below himself; he votes with half a mind or a hundredth part of one. A man ought to vote with the whole of himself, as he worships or gets married. A man ought to vote with his head and heart, his soul and stomach, his eye for faces and his ear for music; also (when sufficiently provoked) with his hands and feet. If he has ever seen a fine sunset, the crimson colour of it should creep into his vote...The question is not so much whether only a minority of the electorate votes. The point is that only a minority of the voter votes.
* G. K. Chesterton

I guess that leaves out the possibility of holding your nose when you vote.

That's okay. I'm made of sterner stuff. If I can change a diaper, I can vote for an incumbent.

I think that means you need to knowingly know why you are voting the way you do...not just because....

"I think that means you need to knowingly know why you are voting the way you do..."

Or to put it another way,

Have a good grasp of your knows when you vote. Got it.
