I have seen the ads yesterday and now today! One is two gay men and the other is two lesbian women. This is a car ad folks and it is nothing more than a car for for gays and lesbians! I'm totally disgusted and goin to tell Lexus I will not ever buy any of their products!
Disgusting!
I think you read to much into the ads. I've seen them and I don't draw your conclusions.
You have any links? I agree though, all car manufacturers are trying to foolishly target gays and lesbians under the mistaken assumption that they are rich, when in fact, they are usually struggling artists or waiters or municipal workers.
I think I know the ad you are talking about. I dont think they are gay characters
Are you dense?
It seemed very apparent to me that the people in the ads were neighbors unsure of which spouse gave them the car as a present.
The two guys walk out of two separate houses and neither of them knows whether or not his wife bought him the car. (It's the same thing for the two women.)
If you promise not to buy a Lexus, I will not buy one either.
I saw the one with the two guys and I turned to wife and asked her if it was a queer ad. She said yes.
I mean, c'mon. It's one guy buying a car for another guy...who's going to clean out the garage.
How gay.
did you see the one with the women? The one woman is looking the other up and down! I don't see how you couldn't have gotten that when Lexus has come out saying they would have gay and lesbian ads to appeal to their gay buyers. This just proves it!
They ran the hippy one in our area, the video of the fires, katrina, protesting, etc.
What to do, what to do...??
sw
You've got to be kidding me. Seriously, is this a joke?
funny isn't it?
That's the same impression I got when I saw it.
>>>...Lexus has come out saying they would have gay and lesbian ads to appeal to their gay buyers. This just proves it!
Somehow, I doubt that a media buyer would place ads targeted to a gay audience during an NFL game. Crikey. Sometimes, a cigar is just a cigar.
maybe not...

no I'm not dense and there is no reason to put me down. The ad may appear to be about one thing but is totally obvious another. My hubby has watched both commericals and agrees with me. Just because you disagree about the content of the commerical doesn't mean you should be calling me dense. So rude!
Like you were about to rush out and buy one next week..........
I AM OUTRAGED! I'm not sure quite about what, but holiday boycotts seem to be all the rage these days on FR. Just count me out of society altogether. Thanks.
If this offends you, then don't ever leave your house again. Who knows what your eyes might see.
If the two women or the two men were a couple, they would not be confused as to who just got a car for Christmas.
The point is that they are both hoping their spouse bought it for them, with the implication being that the spouse who didn't is going to look bad by comparison.
Maybe dumb television commercials are a bit too advanced for you.
Lexus joins growing list of automakers seeking gay buyers

"Being gay myself, I'm aware of how critical the market and its income are. I've got all that hardwired into me," he says. "There's a predisposition in our community towards luxury goods, so why shouldn't Lexus be among them?"

Top Gay Cars of 2007

Yeah, I did see the ladies... And I thought that odd... but the second time I saw it I noticed one woman put her hand on the car and the other was eyeing her as to say 'get your hand off my car'. At least that's the way I took it..
Looks like I will have to return that 2007 Lexus LC that I bought you from Christmas.
thanks for posting that! That is what I'm trying to say! The commercial may be somewhat normal to some of us, but in reality it is pushing homosexuality and the owner of Lexus is gay and said he was going push advertisement for gay and lesbians.
LOL! They were WISE to not direct their ad to MY "market."
no i wasn't, but at this point if I ever was going to buy a Lexus I won't!
Exactly.
But I'm not buying a Lexus either, due to other considerations that aren't in my bank account.
FMCDH(BITS)
I ignore ads. So should you.
Maybe you and hubby need to spend some alone time together.....someone seems a bit tense.
Right. And at the end of the women's commercial, each woman says she has "something to do" back in her own house. Personally, I think the commercials are just totally dumb. But that's just me, perfectly happy with my 2001 SUV.

I don't know how anyone can look at those commercials and see this.
The people come from different houses, the car is in a spot on the property line where you can't tell which house it belongs to. The characters speak abut their respective garages.
Also both characters act as though they are unsure of the vehicle's ownership, if they are homosexual, then obviously one of them gave the other the gift.
One must not be very perceptive, or see a gay boogeyman behind every corner to come to your conclusion.
And before you saw this commercial you were planning on buying a Lexus?
Can't buy a Lexus, they market to gays. Can't buy a Ford, they market to gays. Can't buy GM, they market to liberals. Can't buy a Honda or a Toyota, they put Americans out of work.
So what do you drive, a Schwinn?
That doesn't surprise me.. Corporations are rife with 'diversity training' and this is what you get. But, as to the two commercials in question, I don't think they are targeted at gay people.
I thought gays were always after Hummers.
What the hell are you talking about? The car is parked between tow houses and the characters are discussing who the car is for....nothing to do at all with gay couples...whatsoever. Oy!
I guess you're right. I saw the guys yesterday and mentioned it to my son today. I thought for sure it was a gay-targeted commercial. Just as I'm talking to my son, the women came on. It seemed a bit more obvious in that commercial that they were neighbors.
Excuse me while I go rush to judgment on some other issue...
why so rude? Please, this isn't DU jerk! Me and my hubby have spent the whole weekend together, thanks! Why don't you go to church, cause you you need to learn how to be kind to other's!
You're naive.
Commercial Closet: Lexus rolls into the market

See my earlier post.
Mercy me that was being kind,at least I'm not assuming two people looking at a car are gay...hehe
That article is about how Lexus is joining Toyota in courting the G&L community. No Holiday ad, unless I missed it.
Me too. Although, it is a really poorly written ad. I can't imagine how people are either supposed to understand what's going on, or decide to buy a Lexus based on the ad.
A bunch of Freepers are using the word gay and talking about gay issues, so they must be marketing the thread to gays. It is SO obvious to anyone reading that thread. I think I'll boycott it.
