Lindsay Lohan is the talk of Hollywood for all the wrong reasons again after a letter of condolence to film director Robert Altman's family showed up her shocking grasp of the English language.
The 20-yearold actress, who starred in Altman's last movie A Prairie Home Companion, paid her tributes to the auteur who died of cancer last week. But her note was full of spelling and grammar mistakes.
In the leaked letter, Lohan writes: "I am lucky enough to of been able to work with Robert Altman amongst the other greats on a film that I can genuinely say created a turning point in my career.
"He was the closest thing to my father and grandfather that I really do believe I've had in several years... He left us with a legend that all of us have the ability to do."
Better known for her partying than literary skills, Lohan has been mocked by peers since the letter became public with some speculating it might have been written after one of her many late nights out.
Lohan, supposedly a straight A student, goes on to say: "There's a triumph in the world a million souls hafta be trampled on. - altman Its true. But treasure each triumph as they come ....Be adequite."
"The muse is strong with this one. Pay heed, these are words to live by."
LOL!
This was probably composed on Blueberry by thumb. As such, it is quite adequite.
It's true. The Muse may have been out late and got in early, but Muse is Muse.
From what they make of her car crashes and partying, I don't think she has that much time left in her day. Even if she isn't partying, she is hungover, dehydrated and late for work, according her nasty letter scolding she got from a studio head a couple of months back. Not to worry, I am sure she will soon be tutored by her Hollywood friends and will be giving us advice on who would be best suited to run the country in '08.
Well, we could all get smashed and try to top it. (Damn, week night.)
Doris: "Mutual, I'm sure"
That's a strong point. Still... I can see the possibility of someone being pretty pissed off at receiving such a letter (apparently) written by someone who was drunk at the time. Of course I can also the possibility that someone leaked it for $$$$$s. (Did it first come out in a tabloid?)
everytime there's a triumph in the world a million souls hafta be trampled on.-altman Its true. But treasure each triumph as they come.
I'm guessing Altman has said the first part (the part before the "-altman"). Kind of cynical, the idea that in order to triumph others must be discarded. But Lindsay is saying that you should still treasure each triumph, even though the cost is high.
The "Be Adequite" wasn't with the quote at all, it's her "sign-off", between "Thank you", and her name. Don't know what that means, except maybe it's another thing Altman said, she seems to draw from several things he might have said in his life, maybe things he said during the filming of the movie.
I too am bothered about attacking a girl who has just written a condolence letter.
I'm not sure there's anything particularly thoughtful about putting a grieving family through the agony of reading the philosophical musings of an inebriated intellectual 12 year old.
Right. She's paid to be smokin' hot.
She should have just sent the family a headshot.
That's Unpossible!!"
Holy Sh1t!!!
From the Indpendent: "Or was this Exhibit A for the indictment of America's education system?"
YES!
For every moment of triumph, for every instance of beauty, many souls must be trampled.- HST
Make a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
Is step 4 of the 12 step program, which I guess is what she meant by "12st book".
Hey, this is kind of fun, and it's actually interesting that she's not just making things up, but she is actually drawing from little snippets of stuff she must have read or heard about.
Sorry, I know the writing isn't great, but I'm giving her credit for caring, and for taking at least SOME time both to write, and to write interestingly.
In this particular case, I would say no muse is good muse.
Palomino!
