Those are all names of real babies born this month, on another forum I frequent. No lie.

I'm surprised how many boy names - Caden, Braden, Jaden, Addison, Cameron - could work for girls whose mothers are intent on them growing into strippers.

Don't lump "Addison" in with that crap... it was my grandfather's name, that being the reason we chose it for my son's middle name.

Shannon is a SURNAME and a place name in Ireland. It became a first name in the US first for boys, then girls, IIRC.

Many names evolve from being boys' names to girls' names, but not usually the other way around.

Examples:

Stacy/Stacey
Tracy
Courtney
Kim (well, Kim as a girl's name is short for Kimberly, and is a man's name by itself, but anyone called "Kim" was generally a male before 1950)
Shannon
Dana

More recent examples:

Devin/Devon
Taylor

"Jablome" is a made-up surname, usually offered in conjunction with the first name "Heywood" as a way to scam unsuspecting reporters looking for a man-on-the-street opinion.

I wonder when "Barak" will break the top 20 in baby names.

***"Braden Jablome" just sounds stupid. Admit it.

Not nearly as stupid as "Heywood Jablome".

I like Annette. I did use a deceased friend's name for my first daughters middle name, Mia Rose. I used for my second daughter my deceased dad's name and his Grandmother's name. Giovanna Grace.

Ha ha, that's a fun game. Sit down with your spouse and figure out what your kid's names would have been if you named them after the place of conception!

you never hear Edith or Helen or Josephine much anymore either do you?

Our neighbors' three-year-old is Josephine (proper spelling, no strange variants).

My dad wanted to name me Johnny Belinda, I share your pain. Luckily my mother proved that she did indeed love me and left off the Johnny.

Umm, wtf:

AIDAN/AIDEN/ADEN

CADEN/KADEN

BRADEN/BRAYDEN/BRAEDEN

JADEN/JAYDEN

I'm noticing a theme here.

But always glad to know, we probably won't be seeing Neave on this list (although it is top of the list in Ireland).

From an post on FR about 4 years ago:
______________________________________________________
According to data published by the Social Security Administration, the name Hillary is the most severely poisoned baby name in history. Hillary had been steadily climbing the baby name charts since the 1960s, when it first graced the Top 1000, becoming the 136th most common name for baby girls in 1992. But the name sharply reversed course in 1993, smashing several longstanding records for name contamination in its plunge from the Top 1000 girl names last year.

The title for the most rapid case of name contamination had been held by Ebenezer and then Adolph, names that were shunned by parents after they became associated with Dickens's miserly banker and the Nazi dictator Hitler. But while Ebenezer and Adolph each took over 30 years to fall from the Top 1000 after they were negatively associated with their prominent name sakes, Hillary dropped off the charts in just 10 years, upsetting the prior records in less than 30% of the time. Besides this achievement, Hillary also set records for largest drop in a single year (295 places in 1994), two years (420 places in 1993-1994) and ten years (>864 from 1993 to 2002). These titles taken together constitute the grand slam of name poisoning.

The way I see it is that America sees the truth of how evil his woman really is and does not want to be associated with her.

I am not making this data up you can go to the links and reverify the data for yourself:

If you do a find on this page from the Edit drop down menu in your Internet Explorer Browser page you will find that Hillary doesn't make the top 1000 in 2002 from the data that I have found

Aiden is a good Irish name. It's just been stolen by a bunch of Burberry parents.

My daughter's name is Ceceilia Marie. I actually regret changing the spelling in homage to her maternal grandmother. Poor girl is going to spend the rest of her life spelling out her first name.
