Owens fined $35,000 for spitting incident

"Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens has been fined $35,000 today for spitting on Atlanta defensive back DeAngelo Hall in Saturday's 38-28 win over the Falcons. Owens won't be suspended for the Cowboys' Christmas Day NFC East showdown with the Eagles.

"We are confirming that Terrell Owens has been fined $35,000," said NFL vice president of public relations Greg Aiello in a phone interview. "It falls under unsportsmanlike conduct..."

I am a big Cowboys fan, so I am glad they did not suspend him...I also think that other players know how to yank his chain to get him to over react....$35k is pocket change for him. He will sulk for a couple of days then when the next media spot light turns on, he will be there.

DeAngelo Hall wanted him to be suspended from playing. There have been a few incidents of players spitting on opposing players, and their punishments were a fine. Not condoning what he did, but wny should it be any different with T.O.?

I am just putting this out there. First of all lets take away the profession of those that were spit upon. In Syracuse a women spit upon a man and may be having criminal charges brought against her, (of which I happen to agree). In a football arena one man spat upon another and has to pay a fine. Both actions are hideous and people deserve better treatment than that...Now, lets bring back the factor of the professions. Will TO's behavior be excused by us FReepers because he happens to be a good running back? Will we excuse the the woman in Syracuse for doing the same thing? IMO, both incidents are wrong and done by emotions running amok and general lack of respect for your fellow man.

No way they were going to suspend TO for the Iggles game. The NFL has had this date circled on their calendar for months, no way they were going to jeopardize their Christmas Day spectacle.

I don't condone the spitting at all....he is an important part of the team right now and he is needed to get along in the playoffs...personally I think he is a clown. maybe the guy he spit on should have cleaned Owens clock right there...he didn't ,so Owens got fined $35K.I don't know aobut you but to me that is a lot of money...hopefully he will think before he pojects spit the next time..
