Madonna, who once gave David Letterman a pair of her underpants, had plenty to say on CBS' "Late Show" Thursday about young Hollywood going commando.
"I've been hearing these stories. It's dreadful," she said. "Honestly, I live in England and so, I get – I'm pretty cut off from a lot of these stories. I only read stuff about, or hear stuff about the Royal Family. And so I've come to New York and the first thing I hear is about everyone not wearing their underpants. What's going on? ... It's freezing outside!"
Letterman reminded Madonna about the time she brought him a pair of her underpants as a gift and told the singer that he still had them.
"Maybe you could send them to Britney," Madonna quipped.
Madonna also talked candidly about the controversy surrounding her adoption of a baby boy named David from Malawi.
"The controversy took me by surprise," she said. "We did everything by the book and we went through the courts and, you know, everything was kosher in terms of legal, but it was – I think it brought a lot of attention to a country who's just coming to terms with what they should do with the overwhelming number of orphans that are there. There's over a million orphans in Malawi and in my opinion, the laws need to change because these children need to be rescued."
The singer went on to say that the 15-month-old David is "a champion tantrum thrower" whom they call "King David."
"It's interesting, when they're that age or any age, they really can't do anything for themselves. They can't dress themselves, they can't feed themselves, they can't go anywhere by themselves, but yet they're running the entire show."
Bullpuckey. She can't get CNN.com - or Free Republic, which is where I see all the celebrity gossip? Of course she could; she just think living in England makes her Special.

Wow! Madonna lowers herself and travels from highbrow England to the tacky old USA? Does Gweneth Paltrow know about this?
I believe it was one of her outfits we felt best described as a "full nipple jacket"...
She is just riding the coattails of someone else's controversial behaviour.
She actually has an Irish accent now.

She has not aged well. The gap in her teeth seems to be growing. You figure with all her money she could find a dentist.
I assure you, we were not cut off from these stories - no matter how merciful that exemption might have been.
