The Presidential IQ Report
Check Snopes, false ^ | January 16, 2007 | The Lovenstein Institute

Posted on 01/16/2007 11:16:25 AM PST by the_devils_advocate_666

WASHINGTON --In a published report, the Lovenstein Institute of Scranton, Pennsylvania has detailed findings of a four month study of the intelligence quotient of President George W. Bush. Since 1973, the Lovenstein Institute has published its research to the education community on each new president, which includes the famous "IQ" report among others.

According to statements in the report, there have been twelve presidents over the past 60 years, from F. D. Roosevelt to G. W. Bush who were all rated based on scholarly achievements, writings that they alone produced without aid of staff, their ability to speak with clarity, and several other psychological factors which were then scored in the Swanson/Crain system of intelligence ranking. The study determined the following IQs of each president as accurate to within five percentage points:

147 Franklin D. Roosevelt (D)
132 Harry Truman (D)
122 Dwight D. Eisenhower (R)
174 John F. Kennedy (D)
126 Lyndon B. Johnson (D)
155 Richard M. Nixon (R)
121 Gerald R. Ford (R)
176 James E. Carter (D)
105 Ronald W. Reagan (R)
98 George H. W. Bush (R)
182 William J. Clinton (D)
91 George W. Bush (R)

The six Republican presidents of the past 60 years had an average IQ of 115.5, with President Nixon having the highest IQ, at 155. President G. W. Bush was rated the lowest of all the Republicans with an IQ of 91.

The six Democrat presidents had IQs with an average of 156, with President Clinton having the highest IQ, at 182. President Lyndon B. Johnson was rated the lowest of all the Democrats with an IQ of 126.

No president other than Carter (D) has released his actual IQ, 176. Among comments made concerning the specific testing of President GW Bush, his low ratings were due to his apparent difficulty to command the English language in public statements, his limited use of vocabulary (6,500 words for Bush versus an average of 11,000 words for other presidents), his lack of scholarly achievements other than a basic MBA, and an absence of any body of work which could be studied on an intellectual basis.

The complete report documents the methods and procedures used to arrive at these ratings, including depth of sentence structure and voice stress confidence analysis. "All the Presidents prior to George W. Bush had a least one book under their belt, and most had written several white papers during their education or early careers.

Not so with President Bush," Dr. Lovenstein said. "He has no published works or writings, so in many ways that made it more difficult to arrive at an assessment. We had to rely more heavily on transcripts of his unscripted public speaking."

The Lovenstein Institute of Scranton Pennsylvania think tank includes high caliber historians, psychiatrists, sociologists, scientists in human behavior, and psychologists. Among their ranks are Dr. Werner R. Lovenstein, world-renowned sociologist, and Professor Patricia F. Dilliams, a world-respected psychiatrist. This study was commissioned on February 13, 2001, and released on July 9, 2001, to subscribing member universities and organizations within the education community.

Not serving on a nuclear submarine does not mean that he did not have a BS in nuclear engineering.

But the fact that he does not have a BS in nuclear engineering does mean that he does not have a BS in nuclear engineering.

He had a BS in engineering and took some graduate-level courses related to nuclear engineering before he dropped out of grad school, but he is not a nuclear engineer.

Elections are no longer necessary. An IQ test will suffice from now on. Then we may wind up with Bobby Fisher as president.

This "study" has been debunked and exposed as a fraud countless times in the past six years. So which MSM outlet has dredged it up and pushed it as "fact" yet again?

"...since there is no such thing as the Swanson/Crain system."

I think there is a Swanson/Crain weight loss system. Perhaps the surveyer mistakenly picked the ex-presidents' body mass index. That would explain Clinton's high score.

As I heard an NFL pundit say once, they want a quarterback to be smart, but not too smart. If they are too smart, they tend to think too much and be indecisive, when they should be relying more on their instincts.

Clinton was renowned for his ability to keep thousands of policy details in his head, but he was a poor decision maker.

I don't know why, after all these years, people still fall for garbage that is passed along on the internet.

Because they want to believe it, no matter how ridiculous it sounds. The left has invested everything they have into the notion that George W. Bush is a complete moron, so any time something comes along that "proves" it, they snap at it like a marlin at a squid.

"If democrats are so smart, then how come they are so stupid."

That statement reflects my exact sentiments.

So where should I send my SSN and my checking account number and routing number? (I was fooled, I admit it and I'm embarrassed.)

Hey, don't be embarrassed FRiend, a VERY long time ago (pre-Internet), I actually got a genuine, canceled by the Nigerian postal service and the United States Postal Service, letter from an individual who claimed to be a half-French, half-African daughter who was desperately trying to get out of Africa, had received my name from a friend of mine who told her I was 'trustworthy' and I actually wrote her back (in longhand), offering to help if I could, and my first hint that something was amiss was when she told me that she would have to pay a large civil fee in order to be approved for exit from the country, etc., blah-blah-blah, wanted me to send her cash via bank wire, I didn't send her dime one, but that letter had the most beautiful handwriting I had seen up to that point (I was 20), and the picture she claimed was her was nothing short of stunning. Almost had me hook line and sinker.

We all fall for something once in a while, so just enjoy the good natured ribbing you might be receiving, and remember how you can tell when Leftists, Liberals & 'Rats are lying:

You see their lips move.

Have a nice evening.

Is there any correlation to post-1980 military GT scores?

After October 1980, military GCT scores do not correlate to IQ as far as Mensa is concerned -- according to the Mensa web site.

Actually, I think Steve Sailer has an article where he has the miltary OCS scores for both Bush and Kerry (that part of Kerry's record did come out), does some psychometric investigation to equate the raw scores to IQ, and comes out with Bush a couple of points ahead. I'll try to find the link.

They couldn't spell it when I was an undergraduate, either. Plus, most people have no idea of the definition. LOL! Still, despite it's importance, it is a relatively obscure and unglamorous field. Pays well, though.

Here is the Bush-Kerry IQ article URL:

http://www.vdare.com/sailer/kerry_iq_lower.htm

It goes into excruciating detail about the scores of both men, and how to get IQ from them.

Here is the conclusory material:

"So, if you take the average of Bush's percentile scores on the three composites most similar to the test Kerry took, Bush scored at the 67th percentile, a little better than Kerry's 50th percentile.

This isn't an apples to apples comparison, so you can't say that Bush would have done better than Kerry on the same test. But this doesn't provide any evidence in support of the common assumption that Kerry has a much higher IQ. The standardization report by Miller and Valentine says that the "officer population" that provided the percentile scores was about one standard deviation better than the average 12th grade male on the Verbal subtest and about two standard deviations better on the Quantitative test.

This suggests that the 50th percentile among the norm group of Air Force Academy applicants had an IQ of about 123, thus putting Bush in the 125-130 range—a little better than his SAT score would imply."
