Presented byA three alarm fire leveled several structures of the former Sunshine Park Nudist Camp in the early morning hours on January 15th. The Mays Landing Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to a fire on Sunny Avenue, and command arrived to find heavy fire in the wooded area approx. 1/4 mile down Sunny Avenue.
Upon investigation, it was discovered several structures were burning, including a large banquet hall and several homes. A tanker task force was requested to the scene to supply water. Thirteen fire companies responded to the call as well as Atlantic County OEM. The fire took several hours to extinguish, and the cause in under investigation.

former Sunshine Park Nudist CampIt used to be a nudist camp, it was probably burned in order to re-develop the land. Arson is cheaper than demolition.

We used to live in Scullville, right near that park. I doubt that there were many people staying there at the time of the fire, but a lot could have changed since we lived there, thirty years ago. Atlantic County was known for having two seasons, summer and fire. The land is probably more valuable than the park buildings.

---a large banquet hall---
In a nudist colony? What do the cooks wear in a nudist colony? Think about it. Never mind...don't think about it.
