Did anyone in the media pick the Vikings because "it was Fran Tarkenton's time"?

I still don't know if we'll ever see the Cardinals in one.

The first Super Bowl I remember was SB V, when Jim O'Brien of the Baltimore Colts kicked a 33-yard FG with a few seconds left on the clock to beat Dallas 16 - 13. .....Jan. of '71.

Technically the Vikings did win the 1969 NFL championship before losing to Chefs in Super Bowl IV (Go Otis Go!).

My father tells me that even if Miami had stopped them there that the 'Skins were still going to win that game.

****In some ways I actually enjoy today more than Super Bowl Sunday. It's nice having two huge games.***

I agree. One of the sports talk radio stations here has a bikini contest around these games.

The Chargers were beaten before that one even started. At least Dallas made "Ice Bowl I" a classic.

I'm pretty sure the (13 - 1) Raiders were favored, but the (11-2-1) Vikes got plenty of support. ....although I don't remember any "it's Tarekenton's time" predictions.

I remember Super Bowl III. I probably watched but don't remember I and II. I was 16 in 1969... it makes me feel ancient whenever they mention what number the current SB is...

Born and raised a BEAR fan, the Bears didn't have much to root for in the 60s - so I always rooted for the upstart AFL teams against the teams that beat up the Bears during the season.

That was an amazing game to watch, no one thought the Jets could win. I'm sure Joe Willie would say he did, but.

Go Bears!

The only Super Bowl where a player on the losing team (Chuck Howley) was given the MVP.

It maybe moot if the Bears defense doesn't.
