The good news is that Hawaii is only 4 hours from Anchorage - great to get out during winter for a week or so of sunshine.
I use GCI which supplies local phone service, broadband internet, and digital cable TV. Verizon might think I am living in the lower 48, I am on a large family plan that allows all of my family on the same network.
If you possibly can do it, go up for the summer, come home when it starts getting cold and dark.
(whisper) Keep telling everyone how horrible it is up there, I want to move up there after spending a lot of time with a family member who lives there. The place is amazing, and I don't want a bunch of other people getting the same idea and ruining it! (whisper)
Yeah. Alaska. It's a dump. *wink wink* Bears rampaging everywhere, stupid mooses selling oranges at all the stoplights - don't even get me started about the friggin' bald eagles!

And the food! Do you know, they make you eat salmon fresh from the river!?!?! It's horrible!

Would that have been the "Chena Bar"? Located on "2 Street." I worked door there during the mid 70's. Also played a lot of pool.

Actually before winter start first winter I was up there my uncle march me down to Big Rick that good place get winter gear I had walk in my first winter up there to hotel I working at when I first try get establish in Fairbank AK
